What's a restoration worth?
Folks, I know this is a Rolex forum, but I'm looking at a 60s model vintage compressor watch that has been fully restored. I'm negotiating a price vs a another in similar condition but with no service history.
Provided that all else is equal in regards to condition of the case, crystal, dial, etc., what might a full restoration on a vintage watch like this be worth? $100? $200 $300 I know that service and restoration will be different for every watch depending on its condition and movement, but I'm trying to get a realistic idea of how much more the restored watch is worth. Not to mention the hassle of actually having it done. I guess the better question to ask is: How much more would you pay for a watch that has just been fully restored? Any feedback is appreciated and a photo of the movement during restoration is included below. Thanks in advance. |

Many watches are not worth the effort or cost of restoration and doing so may boil down to "hobby", "experience", or the watch has sentimental/personal value.
Regardless of the cost expended the end product is still only worth the market value

I understand this. That was not my question. My question was what would a full restoration cost in terms of real dollars?
