I would do it. You can always buy the other watches back at a later date if wanted.

Based on your list, you should do it.

I would not want to pay that much of a premium to get a moveable bezel on a gold GMT and lose the Daytona.

I agree with this, one could get a really nice 16710 pepsi for the 7k. If not I would save up a bit more and just get rid of the two Explorers. A Sub, Dayotona and BLRO would make a nice collection.

Everyone has really helped me rationalize this decision, even if it wasn't what I was leaning towards
One of the things holding me up from buying more watches is I always want to wear my favorite... which would be one I already own (BLNR) or the next one I get (??). In the world I live I'm not some fashionista needing just the right watch for the right occasion... I find most (sport) Rolex capable of being worn in nearly any setting, from The Beach to The Boardroom. I certainly would consider consolidating to a PM do-anything watch like the BLRO. Clearly my views of world order are different from many on this forum.

When I was very big into photography it always bothered me I had multiple cameras and many, many lenses. The more 'equipment' I accumulated the less value I extracted from each piece. I ended up selling off everything but my Sony RX1 full-frame 35mm (can't even zoom) and diverted to proceeds to my watch hobby. I'm much happier for it and have extracted much, much more value out of that 1 camera than the $3K I spent on it.

I think I would be happy with the watches you already have... and would also be happy with just a BLRO and Sub. If you consolidate to the BLRO than you have a bird-in-hand exquisite watch and you can always go back to accumulating back the 'lesser' pieces. But I think you will find once you have the BLRO you'll have much less interest in re-acquiring the SS pieces you let go. Ask Dr. Tom.

Same here, once I tried PM, SS lost some of its allure. If you are keeping the Sub then I'd def go for the BLRO, best of both worlds.

this, the drive for a PM watch is very strong once it sets in and I think Mike, Neil and I know and understand that!! Its hard to take advise from someone who does not own a PM watch as they really dont know what they are missing!!

to me getting rid of a bunch of SS watches to obtain a PM Grail watch that is a true go anywhere do anything watch is WELL worth it!!

the BLRO has it all, looks, weight, feel, Grail, stealth, bezel, date, extra time zone!! what is left to say but DO IT!!!!

Definitely do it.

I believe less is more when you get what you want. However, if you do meet do rotate and are pone to flipping, better err on the patient side.

Well, I constantly battle with this same issue. I would have to sell several watches as well to fund a PM Rolex. Personally, I think I like having the choice of multiple watches over just one or two. But, I can see having one SS model and one PM model. I think though after a while, I would want more than 2.

No way would I do this trade. Save up more and add the $7K to buy your target Rolex watch...simply not worth it...you are trading in 3 watches + $7K and in return for one...quantity wise it simply does not add up, quality wise perhaps a fair trade from your perspective but definitely not mine.

I love mine. To me it is nicer in person than in the pictures!! Fantastic reference.
Agreed! Although I think you could get a better deal.

The BLRO is a grail of mine too...that said, not sure I would give up 4 for 1. However, it all boils down to what you want, and as others have said, it's not the end of the world if you do it and it doesn't work out.

I would. A grail piece versus those 3 would be a no brainer for me. I also appreciate more and more being a minimalist

If it's what you want go for it.

My last watch was a 3 for 1, AP+Panerai+Rolex for my Patek 5711... Been ~6 months no regrets.

I was recently trying to do the same thing and couldn't. With that said, I'm thinking about it again (smaller scale). 3 for 1. 4 for 1 was too much! There, that is my logic.

Truth be told, I was gonna sell my first and then I put it back on and was in love again. Pretty much wore it most every day for the last month.

Don't force it is what my thought is. If you are hesitating....well, hesitate. Either it'll feel right later or it won't.

I can see the less is more point, quality over quantity.

We seem to be hard wired that more is better....

The only problem with your trade is you are paying full retail towards the BLRO.

I'd sweeten the deal and reduce the cash on top to neg down to $5k plus all your watches...

You are also doing the person trading a huge favor as he doesn't have to hunt down these watches 1 by 1 which would take some time.

And keep in mind, PM Rolex's DEPRECIATE the most the first few years after the release compared to all the SS models.

In this case, I don't think quality is an issue. Those steel watches are just as good in terms of quality. New model improvements aside obviously.

Seems like he's giving up a lot, but why not if he truly loves the BLRO.

I traded 4 for 1 recently to get into a grail Yellow Gold Day Date. No matter how nice my also humble collection, I was always searching for the grail. I had also come to feel that i really had too many watches to enjoy. It is hard to have a watch for almost every day an really appreciate them. I would say go for it!

I would do it if that's what you really want to do, although I would get that number down under 5K. I think 7700 is too much cash to bring to the table.
