Milgauss is a steal?
I have been browsing Chrono24 enough to spot that Rolex Milgauss is going for quite a low price relative to what they were new, at least it seems to me that way. Have anyone else got that feeling?
The green saphire black dial one was supposedly really hard to find and yet Im seeing them for 4-5k now (EUR). What gives? A good price point to grab one perhaps (BNIB or MINT). Or I'm imagining things?

I got one for 6k USD when they just came out so 4-5k euro sounds about right for now.
Still a great alternative to a 8-9k blnr or 10k daytona. |

Pretty sure I saw it for 7.2k in Germany a year ago so for me ca 5k sounds like a nice deal.

I'd like to see the 116400GV without the GV. That green sapphire is like putting cheap sunglasses on a watch. The dial is already matte. The green tint just dulls it more and takes the pop out of the orange markers.
They are selling for about $7500 new at the ADs here. They always seem to be in stock, along with the blue GV. |

The Milgauss has to be the most under-rated Rolex. I really like it.

Just picked one up
I picked up a GV here in the U.S. for under $6,000 and it was essentially new. I think these are good values for a Rolex, and it's a beautiful watch. They've never been that popular, hence the discounted prices on them. Grab one before they're discontinued!

It may also have to do with the fact that it is time only, albeit in a Faraday cage. And if you think of it like that, it's not really cheap considering it does nothing more than an oyster perpetual.

Purely on dollars spent, perhaps, but you've got to want the watch.

Steal means that there is less demand; unless you get one below market you're getting what you paid for, specifically a low demand watch.

I used to be indifferent, until I tried one on and got instantly hooked.
The GV is spectacular in every way. If there's a mint one for under 6k, that's a no brainer for me.

The GV has always be the most common around these parts. At any given time, my favourite shop has around five of them, but rarely ever the white or black.
I think the myth of scarcity was perpetuated when they first came to market by ADs claiming them to be "limited edition".

Limited?
When the GV was released, from what I remember Rolex never mentioned "limited"; that was a rumor when somebody heard that the GV glass was hard to manufacture, and initially people couldn't find any GV's, hence their prices were over $10,000! To this day most AD's in my area claim it's limited, along with the "anniversary"(?) Green ceramic Sub, both of which are easily found all day long. Just a marketing tactic.
Evertime I go to an AD I see the white, GV, and Z blue Millgausses. The now discontinued black is the only one that is missing. My guess is the white is the next to be dropped by Rolex. Quote:

Not every Rolex has great resale value, the good thing is that the Milgauss is very underrated and if anyone is in the market for one they are getting a hell of a watch for the money!

While I really don't think any modern Rolex will get the same premium as the current vintage ones do, if there is even a chance of one becoming a collectible in 30 years, it's the Milgauss.

The Milgauss is one that I've gone back and forth on. Some times, I've been set on it and others times, not so much. I recently saw one going for $5K USD that I nearly jumped on, but held back. I do like it more with a brushed finish though.
