cigar cutters

What do you recommend? I have the usual cheap guillotine cutters from Thompsons... I like the sliver/v notch (keep that in my golf bag), but i'm now looking at getting a few punches for key chains. Just wondering what you all prefer/use.

I have several scattered in car, office, club, etc.

My 2 cents:

Davidoff double blade plastic cutter has lasted decades, very sturdy.
Xikar 'X' is incredibly ergonomic and discrete, it is my go to travel cutter
Xikar slim is beautiful and classic, a nice office cutter
Palio: speechless amazing! The only problem is finding one.

Xikar the most significant accessory to happen to cigars since the invention of fire

Ok I think they are made well and do a great job, also are a perfect gift

Anyone use a punch? I like the idea behind them (and ease of keeping one everywhere).

I used to use a Davidoff punch. Now I use almost exclusively a Xikar V-Cutter.

As Gus said, Xikar is definitely the best thing to happen to cigars since fire! Lol!

I think I have nearly half of what they make.

I find the punch does not give enough draw.

Prefer a cutter.

Never liked the punch. I do love my xikar. Buying it on my honeymoon was just a bonus!

Xikar are top notch. The basic Davidoff 2 blade is great also.

Since we're on the subject, how about for lighters? I have a whole bunch of both cutters and lighters. I have a tough time having a lighter being filled over and over again and working properly. Anyone else in the same boat?

I've had my Zino Davidoff, dbl guillotine cutter for nearly 20 yrs now... If I never lose it, it should last a lifetime. Lots of cigar lighters have a punch built into the bottom of them, which on occasion I will use if I know the smoke will be a very easy and heavy draw.

Avo punch is the best in my opinion. Lifetime warranty and fits on your key ring. Anything from Xikar is top shelf.

Without question the perfect cutter is the Cuban Crafters Perfect Cutter. Lifetime replacement and only $15.00.

My nicest is a French made Laguiole, a generous gift from my mate, Dave [davethehall].

Glad to see the replies. So...I just threw down a chunk of change on a bunch of different kinds. Some punches, different Xikars, a palio, and some other randoms...with the thought, i'll figure out what I like, and then stick with those in the future. And the ones I don't, can be "gifted" to friends that occassionally have a cigar, or i'll treat them as disposable and get stashed all over the place (golf bags, ect..)

Thanks for the input, I'll give an update on what works for me.

It is always nice to pay it forward.

I have settled on the punch do to it being small and easy to carry in my pocket. I have a cone sharpening stone and an outside reamer that I use to sharpen the edge.

I also like the notch cutters which I use at home. The only one I did not like was the Ninja Cigar Cutter.

Anywhere you can buy a Dremel Tool you can find a cone stone. Just get the finest grit available and do it by hand.

Funny, when I first responded I said to myself "if there isn't something easy I can just use the Dremel." lol

Most often a guillotine cutter Palio or Xikar. Occasionally some cigars demand a punch cut in which I have a great Xikar that stays sharp for a clean cut every time.
