116528 Daytona or 218238 Day Date II
Hello,
Introducing myself to the forums with this as my first post. I'm torn between a YG Daytona w/ blue dial and a YG Day Date II w/ champagne dial, pictures attached with them on my wrist. I've narrowed it down to these 2 watches, but I'm having trouble deciding. Both sing to me for different reasons, and I think I would be very, very happy with either one of them. I've looked at other dial options, and for a Daytona, the Panda dial is a distant second. For the DD2, the ivory dial with arabic numerals is a distant second. I'm not interested in RG or WG, either. The YG works for me. Any opinions, input, or otherwise? Curious to see what other people think. Nice to meet you all, Trailboss |

There are no mistakes but to my eyes, the day date looks better on you. In the case I might choose differently but not on your wrist.

Absolute stunners , both!
DD is more "classic, vintage looking Rolex" and Daytona more sporty and has the BLUE. Do you need the chronograph function? Ever? If not I'd vote DD but it is such a close call as these are two VERY special all gold pieces. Let us know what you decide. |

I think the Daytona suits a younger person and the DDII is more of a mature watch, I have owned a DD and a Daytona and they are different pieces.
FYI they both are great watches and both look good on you so there is no mistake you will make, just understand what sings to you more, personally I love blue dial watches, so I would take the Daytona of those choices. Welcome to TRF.

Daytona, I prefer more contrast on the DDII so black dial would be my first choice.

I don't see this YG/Blue combination at all, so I am drawn to it.

Never. But then again if I need to check the time I usually end up looking at my iphone. Go figure.... If you don't mind me asking, what about the DDII won you over? Or, was there anything specific that made you let go of the Daytona? Quote:

DD2, and that's the dial I'd choose too... Tried the RG, and didn't go with my skin tone. Have had many of Daytonas, but they always seem to go.

Welcome to the forum. I'd choose the DD2 over the Daytona. I prefer the clean dial, and overall aesthetics. Good luck deciding, there's no wrong answer.

Well, they of course are both amazing watches but they wear really different. The Daytona wears much smaller, being about 39mm and sporting a large bezel while the DD II wears much bigger, being about 2mm larger and having a wider dial.
I'd choose the Daytona because of the amazing dial and because the DD II wears really bad on my small wrist, totally out of place. You seem to have a 7-7.5'' wrist judging from the pics, so you probably can choose either one and have a perfect fit. Congrats in advance! |

Out of these two, I vote Daytona.
If it had been a black dial or white dial DDII, it would have been a harder decision.

No way you could go wrong with either. Both are absolutely luscious. At the end of the day, however, it's what fits your lifestyle the best. Are you more of a sports watch guy or more of a suit and tie type?
I would go Daytona, but that's me. |

I agree - depends on the look you go for. If you're more of a suit/formal guy, get the DD. I see the Daytona as being more business causal to casual. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Judah, I have to agree with you about the dial. It really is unique. I think the only concern I have is that the dial doesn't pop as much as I would like it to. The sunburst style on the sub (or even the champagne DDs) play with the light a little more than the Daytona dials do.

Thank you, Rich! Just when I start leaning towards the DD2 I get second thoughts... Quote:
That would have been a smart move. Is it too late to add one? Quote:
I would say a little bit of both, if you consider sports to be watching soccer on the TV at the bar........haha. I go to an office 5 days a week, but it is relatively business-casual, although I do face customers often. A solid gold Rolex is never going to be discrete, but I am not concerned about that. |

(Edit: Apologizes for the double post)
This decision is getting more difficult, not less difficult... Quote:
Thank you :) Quote:
Will they stop making 41mm sizes? Thank you very much, happy to be here. That combination really works for me. While I like the black and Panda dials, too, the blue one really stands out. Since dial swap options are a possibility, I think I am getting away from getting hung up on the dial, and thinking "would I be happier with a Daytona, or a Day Date II, and going from there. Dials are cheap and you can switch them around, so I guess it is better to look at it from a broader perspective. Your WG one is beautiful. I tried on that exact model that you have in your avatar, and although it didn't really work for me, it is absolutely beautiful |
