Any suggestions on something produced in 1978?
Good Morning All
I decided my next purchase will be something produced in my birth year which is 1978. Any recommendations/suggestions so I can get my research on? And.....of course I did some goggle research. I'm thinking Rolex but I'm open to other brand recommendations as well. Thanks in advance. |

You should post this in the Vintage subforum! And advise if you're looking for sport or dress models.
Sport models, you have some iconic (and not cheap) options to choose from: 1655 Explorer II 1665 Sea Dweller 1680 Submariner 5512 Submariner no date 5513 Submariner no date

Let's not forget the 9411 Tudor sub! Far less common and very cool.

I was born in 78 too. I would suggest a 18038 (President) and/or a 1665 (Seadweller).

You'll get a date just for around 2500 - 3000 USD

You could get a Speedmaster Pro if you're willing to go non-rolex.

I was born in the same year and had been looking for about a year for a 5513 or 18038. Older subs (and gmts) can be a minefield and couldn't find a clean one in my budget or year. Found an excellent 18038 head only a couple weeks ago and I am in love with it. Dresses up or down effortlessly on a strap. Don't feel like I can do full gold bracelet. Good luck!

there are lots of vintage watches from that year, depends on what you are looking for.
you could go for those suggested fusion storm, or you could make your research, with the serials of the watch |

It's hare do know the exact year a watch was made as there is a fair amount of slop in the serial numbers.
Here's an OQ that is close in our classifieds. http://rolexforums.com/showthread.ph...=Oyster+quartz |

A Seamaster won't set you back much. If it's a complete set, you might get a dated slip showing it was sold in 1978.

Cant remember exactly but I am pretty sure this one came from 1978, lovely watch, super to wear and comfy on jubilee (all be it a bit stretched), sold it a year ago.

What's the watch that made you want a Rolex? That's what I went by, and have a 1976 Pepsi GMT
