Do you want to see some crazy prices for Y Serial LVs and 3186 GMT IIs in Japan!?

At a grey dealer. Crazy thing is, I will maybe go back in a week or two and they will be sold for sure.

So I guess my main question is why in sam hell would anyone pay that kind of price for a used LV? These prices just don't make sense in the slightest...well said Peter...absolutely foolish.

This is quite often the case with the Japanese market. Look at the markup on American made goods such as Alden shoes or Redwing shoes in Japan, pretty shocking.

Let's just put it this way. I always buy a pair when I am back home. 2 to 3 to 4 times more here depending on the model.

I am really surprised because I usualy buy my watches from Quark Osaka.. And they always have reasonable prices.. For example I bought my hulk for 7600 usd.. And also took some tax back.. So this is really surprising..It looks like those price tags are for another gold or vintage watches and they mixed them up..

You can call it what you like! Hype, nuts, whatever!? Look at the documented history. I've been reading for 5 years on various forums, including here on TRF, about the 3186 "internet hype", and all I see and hear is negative comments from the experts, while time, and prices passed you by! Buying those 3186s 5 years ago would have brought you a handsome return on your investment. How many Rolex watches in today's market can that be said for, that are fetching nearly double MSRP!? Like it or not, numbers don't lie! And one thing is for sure...."them haters, they guna hate!"

Ouch! Converted to our (lousy) Aussie $23,625... makes buying locally here in Australia look cheap! Our AU$ was nearly parity with $US not so long ago, now it's tanked badly.
