Need help with authenticating
Hi guys, I'm planning to get a new watch around december. I was thinking about getting a PO but then after some searching around, I could afford a used rolex by stretching my budget a little bit. I like both explorer II 216570 and a sub no date 114060. I came across this by a private seller.
The tag on the left side of the box, shouldn't it have the serial number and the city perhaps of where it is purchased? Thank you for your help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

it's difficult to tell by the pics. The best way to check if it's authentic is to take it to an AD and open the back case to view the movement.

Looks like the real deal from the pictures but need more detailed pictures. Correct crystal height and bezel marker colours "cream instead of the more sliver colour of the reps.
A common flaw of the reps is the lug fitment on the back. The tolerance of a genuine Rolex is extremely tight, totally flush. Also the crown logo on the buckle can lack detail. |

From the pic that is the real deal but it is only a pic. The band how the oyster links are so tight and flush is another good way to tell.

To answer your question about the card. Looks like the seller just grayed out the location and serial. On the back of the card will show the ad location and then name of buyer and date of purchase

Box, card, watch look real. The serial # is usually whited out on cards on listings.

Watch looks good but if you're one of those people who wants the bezel to line up exactly at 12, it looks to me like that ceramic bezel may be slightly off (or perhaps the bezel is just one click off in the pic)...may want to clarify before buying.

If YOU can't tell the difference, you are gambling your $$$....
If you can't tell, pay the little extra and buy from an AD, it's worth it. |

Thanks guys, I'm considering a black dial 216570 too. I wasn't sure about it at first but now it's starting to look better. The 216570 I could get it from a trusted used watch dealer so that would give me a peace of mind when purchasing but a sub is just so pretty.

I agree with taking to an AD for an opened back inspection of there are any doubt.
I am far from an expert - but it looks OK to me. Never got a dud from the trusted Sellers here.

It's from WUS actually, but now I'm thinking if I should get a black dial explorer 216570 instead, same price used but with more complications and it's looking better and better every day. Sub is prettier though
