Johnnie Walker Green Label

Johnnie Walker has pulled the plug on their Green Label malt blend. Wish I'd known this was coming sooner, I would've bought a couple cases. One final issue in North America. The bottles are different and lack a cork stopper and box. I like GL the best among the JW line. I found one fifth about a month ago and 9 more the other day. I've called every liquor store within a 100 mile radius, this is all she wrote around these parts. Don't know if there will be a demand for these down the road or not, but at least I'm set for the next few Christmas Eves and birthdays.

LOL, sound advice! I'm waiting till Christmas Eve on the first one. This will be as hard to come by as Pappy is, at least for most.

Ive never tried to green label. I do enjoy the double black and black label thought. Where would you say the green label stands in the WJ label line?

Maybe as hard to come by but nowhere near as desirable unless you can get the hype train rolling!

It's the only one blended with pure malt whiskies, I enjoy it immensely. I was given a bottle of Blue Label back in 2003; not even close IMHO.

Very true. I didn't buy it with the intent on making a profit down the road, but if there's somebody out there that really wants some, I'm here. ;)

BTW, I may be wrong on GL being the only pure vatted JW blend, but it's definitely my favorite by a long shot.

Check Costco (45.00) !! I started a similar thread on here about 2 years ago about them stopping the production for the U.S. Market but I think they continued in one if the Asian markets.

But it's back like the OP says. Different looking bottle and label

Wish I'd seen your post about that. I've been checking Costco periodically, you never know what they're going to get in and when.

I don't like green label at all. IMO It is Very hot and lacks a mellow character.

My favorite Johnnie Walker (within reason) is Black Label. It's smooth, smoky and full w/o being hot. It's also a great value. Don't get me wrong, I love a glass of Blue on special occasions.

The last production run Costco had a batch, this was many months ago. JW pulled the plug a few years ago.

Apparently Green Label is still available in the Taiwan market. For how long, no one really knows. I like Blue Label, but being how smooth it is, it goes down like water.

I used to give this to people as gifts. Most bars stock black/red/blue so I saw it as a way to gift them something a bit different. I recently (one month back) saw some at my local liquor store here in HK - not sure if it's old or new stock.

Hoping fans of this label will be able to source themselves a stockpile

Black Label is my regular. Blue isn't much better than Black, IMHO.

Green is (was I guess) the only JW I could tolerate. It has a very "single malt" taste to it.

Prefer it even to the over-hyped blue.

Enjoy! But now you can branch out to true single malts... That's a fun exercise!

JW Blue Label is very overrated. This is the only way to drink it in my opinion;

You're not wrong! My favorite jw by far!

Green has been "discontinued" in the North American market before and it didn't affect the rest of the world. I recently saw it again at my local liquor store for the first time in years.

Oh, I have. I love Lagavulin 16, Talisker, Caol Ila, Ledaig, Glenlivet 18 and several others. So many more out there I've yet to try. I'll miss JWG, but not for awhile. ;)

As blends go, blue is smoothest but value player is gold. Half the price almost as smooth.

Black is the old standby, not as smooth, bit fruity. Double black totally different but enjoyable. Never liked the green, not a typical blend like the others.

Keep in mind these blends are all very different from single malts.

Anyone try platinum? I have a bottle I need to open.

I've tried the Platnium and the gold. They were good. I like green the most though. Pass on the blue.

One of my sub contractors bought me a 1.75L bottle of Blue Label and I was not a fan gave it to my wifes dad, only way I could drink it was as a mixer. Wish he would have just given me $500 lol

I'm sure it's in the TRF guidelines that you can't be allowed to mix blue with ANYTHING!

In china, some guys mix rare vintages of Chateau Lafite with coke... mixing blue label is biz as usual
