Need help 42 roo or 44 ceramic

I am thinking about taking the big dive into my first AP and was looking for some help if possible. I am trying to decide between the 42MM ROO most likely grey dial, or the 44mm Ceramic not sure on dial yet.

This is a huge purchase for me and want to get all the opinions I can on it.
any and all help is greatly appreciated.

thank you all for taking the time.

I'm at the same crossroad ;-)

What kind of material are you looking at?
Sturdy for daily wear a concern?

I would be keeping a rolex in the stable most likely my submariner and moving my explorer 2.

Obviously i like the ceramic aspect since its scratch resistant, but looking for something I can wear all the time with little concern.

Personally I'd go 42mm -- I think it's much better suited for daily wear.

The 44mm is awesome - but it can wear a bit large and won't fit easily under shirt cuffs. But it has A LOT of wrist presence.

The 42mm still has great wrist presence while not being too large and will fit under shirt cuffs pretty easily.

I know there are TONS of comments about APs being more susceptible to scratching --- but in my opinion they don't scratch any quicker than any Rolex or other watch I've owned - with my normal wear.

Just my .02

Good luck and enjoy!!

If you have the wrist size to pull off a 44mm I would go that route. I like the design and look of the 44mm over the 42mm.

Ceramic will also be MUCH more scratch resistant than SS. I've had my 42mm elephant for around 5 months now and there are a few small dings/scratches. Probably not noticeable to anyone else but I know they are there. I wore a FC/ceramic diver as a daily beater before the elephant and after 2.5 years it still looks brand new. My 44mm Plat only gets weekend duty but the watch still looks new as well because of the ceramic bezel. I really think all ROOs should have a ceramic or cermet bezel and the ROs should have SS or PM bezels.

If you're located near an AD, you should visit and try them on. The 44s, naturally, wear larger so you need to see whether this would be okay for you (you didn't mention your wrist size, so this may not be an issue for you).

There is a huge price difference as well. If you love the 44 I would save up and get it. Buy once, cry once.

I personally like the 42. After wearing a Pam which is a 44 for over a year. I noticed I like my watches in the 40~ range and that 44 gets a little to big and heavy for me.

Can't go wrong with either though. The forged carbon is a real statement watch. I would get that if you really want to make a statement.

42mm grey themes hands down. The 44mm ROO is an awesome watch, but certainly much less versatile than the smaller model.

Awesome pic!

To the OP: 44 mm should look great on your wrist.
A ceramic bezel will look better in the long run than a steel bezel.

Two great watches - two different looking watches on your wrist. Have you tried them on?

I happen to like the 42mm compared to the 44 - just seems to fit better on my wrist. But that cramic bezel is cool. Oh the choices we have to make in life. Good luck!

I got the gray 42. It's a great watch with amazing wrist presence. Quite a beauty. I would love to add a 44 at some point as well though. Here's a pic of mine:

Need help 42 roo or 44 ceramic

I have these 2 babies, and being completely honest, everytime I go to the safe for my 42 somehow I endup leaving with the 44.
You have to try both, I love the comfort of the 42, but nothing beats rocking the 44, there are only a few pieces out there that have the wrist presence of the 44 Roo's lineup, I've owned SS FC and now RG. I must say that RG is to die for! and I purchased it for a friend!!! now I'm really glad he backed-out! (wife is not) 😂😂😂 here are my babies: Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1450225655.679363.jpg

Pretty easy choice...have had a few of each and my vote will always go to ones with ceramic bezels...so in this case, the 44...

Go for the 44. I have the FC and wear it a lot. Super light and no scratches. The FC hides the scratches very well. Looks as new as when I got it.

44mm but the price difference is huge, the 42mm is almost 40% cheaper

Hate to be this guy BUT wait until SIHH 2016. Maybe they release something in 42mm with a ceramic bezel or a 42 or 44 with a Cermet Bezel. If you can't wait 44mm Ceramic is a beauty. Too bad you couldn't get Sam's (ApRolex) watch he was selling. Somebody got a great price

I like Mike's idea. I'm totally sold on ceramic ROOs but would really like something in a 42mm size. Not that the 44mm's that I've worn have been bad.

I own a 42mm new Navy. I love it. Quite versitile but its definitely a scratch magnet, rolex are way more durable.

I too want a 44mm.

I prefer it in RG, but LOVE the stainless 44mm...

SIHH is in January Manny. Sam had a 44mm Ceramic ROO that sold for 30K which is cheapest I have seen.

Going to agree with mike & mike

Only a month to wait and who knows what we get. A 42 ceramic would be great as the 42 is really upper limit for me size wise even though I have a 7.5 wrist.

That said, I really prefer my Royal oaks in steel with white gold screws. So I am hoping for a return to the 15300 size and not holding my breath. Maybe I'll try an SS diver as the ceramic diver didn't do it for me.
