Or tyres for our pals in the UK and other less "americanized" places........

So, getting my car (BMW 540) out of storage at the end of the month, and am looking for a set of tires to go on the new wheels I bought last fall. I need 2 different sizes:

Rear are 255/40 R17

Front are 235/45 R17

Looking for a high performance tire, and I currently have Michelin Pilot XGT Z4's on the car - looking to move up from those.

I am considering pure summer tires, but would consider high performance all season tires as well. Right now the contenders are:

Michelin Pilot PS2

Toyo Proxes T1-R

and

Fuzion ZRi

The Michelins are the most expensive, and the Fuzion (made by Bridgestone) are the least. I'm looking for good wet/dry handling and braking, and decent tread life. The tires I have on the car now have around 50,000 kms on them, and are due to be replaced, but are still safe.

The Fuzions are quite inexpensive when compared to the other two brands, but the tire shop I'm dealing with has told me they are working out very well on many high end sedans and sporty cars they are putting them on.....I kind of am uncomfortable with Bridgestone, so am tending to shy away from these right now. I am also not keen on Pirelli's, as I've had issues with those in the past when they were on my Jag. Right now the Michelin's are the tire of choice for me.

Any recommendations?

Oh yeah! I have a set of Michelin Pilots on my PT Cruiser. It has a Turbo engine, so uses specially tuned tires (tyres) for the custom suspension system. Love 'em!!!

I had Dunlop Sport 9000's Run Flats on the MINI.
Amazing tires,not cheap but they are very soft & only lasted about 30,000 km.Combo those tyres & that car. Like a Hotwheels car on rails.
With the 540, you might want a softer ride.
Tire selection is like watch selection, ask 10 people you get 10 answers.

Dunlop SP Sport 9000 is a very good all round tyre. Very impressive in the wet, and still very good in the dry.Durability of the SP9000 is much better than the Michelin MXX3,or the Pirelli though as my old set of MXX3 only lasted 9500 miles. After 5500 miles, the Dunlop's now have 6mm left on the rear and 7mm left on the front.One of best road tyres I have ever ran,was the Pirelli P-Zero Rosso Asymmetrical,but not as hard wearing as the Dunlops
The Goodyear F1-GSD3, Yokohama AVS-Sports,and the Toyo Proxes T1-R are all good

Al, have you looked at Yokohama. I had a set of summer performance tyres on my GTI that were exceptional in wet and dry. I checked their website though and they no longer manufacture that same tyre.

I believe the AVS ES100 is a highly rated sport-sedan tyre. Also have a look at the Advan lineup.
