Rolex.com is HORRIBLE

I think this has been covered before but a few searches come up with nothing. 5 minutes surfing rolex.com and I'm incredibly frustrated. Did they do ANY usability testing on that site? Without clicking on the sitemap, i can't even find their watches. They have their whole site in flash which makes navigation a nightmare. I can't even find a link to provide feedback on their crappy site!

I do think they should make available non flash available. The flash version can be quite glitchy at times

I bet they paid a boatload to some lame design firm who built it for them.

Anyone know an email address or link to provide feedback?

I agree - for a company like Rolex their website is awful to navigate and looks dreadful.

I'm glad they don't let the web designers loose on their watches!

Oh...

Maybe that's not such a bad thing, Rolex having to employ a small army to field all the complaints might just lead to another price rise

I think if you're on a really slow line, the rolex website will provide you a choice of flash vs standard html pages. Seen that earlier this week from a hotel internet line (and a real slow one...)

Rolex.com is an award winning Web site. It may not be the easiest to navigate, but it's really advanced technically.

Rolex could learn a lot from the Omega site. The Omega site is a pleasure to navigate!

It also manages to block all AD details EXCEPT for the country that you are located. It uses youe IP address... I want to find dealers in HK and Singapore for a shopping run, but the website won't let me see them!

You should be able to clear your browser cookies and then select a different country when accessing the Rolex homepage.

it's all marketing which rolex is a king of. remember, the time spent put you in front of their brand longer.

Marketing

It's always thought to me that their website was strategic: Designed to drive you to want to get in to an Authorized Dealer and off the Internet!

LOL at Harry's post above

The Rolex.com site works just fine for me. When my conection was slow it did like someone said and had a non flash version.

As much as I hate to admit this, as was mentioned above the Omega site is WAY easier to browse and compare watches etc. But the Rolex one when it works properly can be more entertaining and like someone said keeps you viewing their brand longer. Kinda like sucks you in, no need though they had me AGES ago

Marketing?

I'll tell you what, I have a couple of AP watches (T3, and Volcano) both are so called LE (limited editions), but it seems to me that nowadays, every time they open up a new store (boutique is what they call it), they have some kind of LE model, that to me is just a regular watch with a different color band and dial, but because is an "LE" model, they can definitely charge a lot more, and then you have the so called Collectors, that have to run to the stores and get them. Talk about marketing!!!

The website should at least put a greater number of pics of their watches...the scarce pics they have is barely adequate.

Totally agree with you on this but I bet it is a way to get people to visit an AD, try some on and get a catalogue there to see the majority. Either way if that is not the case ebay is a good way to get a look at different models in all sorts of lighting conditions and angles. Would not buy mine off ebay thought, period.

Yes and no. One can select a different country and all it pops up are the Rolex company details in that country, not AD details, which is useless to buyers.

no doubt the rolex website is just terrible. sadly, it's actually improved in the past couple of years but that doesn't get it anywhere near good. it's difficult to navigate and doesn't seem to really have a coherent roadmap. it's slow and over done with too much flash. they could take a lesson from the "less is more" playbook.

I understand that it could be more user friendly, but as a Flash developer myself I can say for sure that it's VERY IMPRESSIVE from a developers view point.
