Is this date real?
I'm an owner of a 116618lb and a friend received this rolex date as a christmas gift that was apparently purchased 30 years ago. They asked me to help set the date and passed it over to me and it felt very light I had the feeling right away that it was fake but didn't want to insult anyone.
This is the only picture I have. I apologize if this is the wrong forum, could you please direct me to the correct one? Thanks |

There's nothing wrong with the watch the fact a new sub is heavy is a new thing not a vintage concept.

Should there be anything engraved on the back for this model? I remember seeing some inscriptions on the back.
I don't have the watch, it was a friends. It is an original dial they said their family member bought it from 'rolex'. That is the only pic I have. |

I fear most people look at the date, if good it's good and if not its fake.

It looks legit to me. And I don't think it's an aftermarket dial, maybe a service dial.
