I recently brought my 16710 to the beverly hills RSC to get a fresh pepsi insert installed along with a full service. I was surprised to find out later that they had glued (i think thats what it is) the new insert in place. I couldnt pop it out of the bezel like I could with the previous insert. I even tried hitting it with a hot blowdryer for a bit but the insert still won't budge.

Does anybody else have any experience with this? Any suggestions for how to pop it out without scratching/warping something?

First cannot understand why you would want to remove a nearly installed insert,and would seriously doubt if any RSC would use glue to fit any type of insert.

I cant be the only one that's ever purchased a new insert then wanted to go back ;)

I may be completely wrong and just need to force it out harder. I wanted to ask you guys because I was also under the impression that Rolex doesnt use any adhesive.

Definitely no glue involved. Sometimes, especially new ones are super tight and feels as if it won't come out. just keep working it with both thumbs and you'll eventually find that welcomed "click" sound. As you mentioned they can warp or buckle so there is a possibility you could sacrifice it unfortunately.

What did they use? Shoe glue?

I doubt they glued it in. Take it back to them or a competent watchmaker to take the insert out of the bezel.

The watchmaker I use places a couple of spots on the bezel.. nothing wrong with that..

I bought a brand new OEM coke and pepsi insert from the Authorized RSC in SF a few months back. Both were very hard to get in and out initially. After a few insert changes depending on my mood, they go in easier now. The coke can still be a pain in the.... at times.

people do it all the time on 5 series sports models. they like that ability over a 6 series.

If the RSC installed it, I'm 99% confident no glue was used but I'd call the service center directly rather than ask here if you are unsure.

While that is quite true and quite easy to do have done myself many many times over the many years.My point is why the original poster wanted to remove newly replaced insert done by the RSC now that seems very odd to me.

i dont disagree. must have replaced it new and he has something vintage or faded he wants to swap in and didnt want them to replace?

"Why" seems like a strange focus; "how" answer seems clear now. I have an insert on my 16700 that is really tight so I won't mess with it for fear of damaging it.

Thanks for the information guys! If I ever REALLY want to swap inserts again ill have RSC or a local watchmaker get it out so nothing gets damaged.

Etschell you hit it right on the head. The watch came with a faded pink/blue insert as purchased from a trusted dealer here. I purchased a new bezel insert to try it out then decided after a few weeks that I prefer the faded look...i'm not sure whats so suspicious.

The insert from my 16610LV was definitly glued with some kind of hot-glue.
Wouldn't be surprised if some RSC would do that as standard procedure when watches are sent without inserts just to get another one.
