Biggest One Hit Wonders
Driving along today and out from the radio comes Margaritaville. Couldn't resist singing along. Got me thinking about one hit wonders. For me it's got to be Jimmy Buffett. He's has to be the most successful. List yours.

I'm sure I could name several more one hit wonders but if you consider Margaritaville to be Buffet's only hit then I'd have to agree, at $400+ million his net worth puts him right up there among the most successful.
Though I'm equally sure there are several Parrotheads on this forum who would strongly disagree with labeling him as a one hit wonder.

Queensryche, actually did pretty well in the 80's. That song was the one that got them noticed by the radio jockeys though. They had a lot of really great songs. Search "Empire", "Lady Wore Black", "Best I Can", "Take Hold of the Flame" etc. Good stuff, I promise

Can it really be bigger than Ram Jam - Black Betty?
Never released anything and then they were told to make an extended version of their very short, first version of Black Betty. And then they also made other shitty songs just to fill the album that were exclusively for Black Betty. And then disband. |

Big Country with their only Top 40 hit in the US, In the Big Country. I think they were moderately successful in the UK but they essentially had one hit here in the states.
Oh and let's not forget Vanilla Ice, Ice Ice Baby! |

One hit wonders as an investment? Looks like there's an opportunity to cash in for those keen enough.
