Thoughts on this 6610 dial

Looking for some opinions on this 6610. I've seen red depth, but not many gold. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

a bit more back story

In case any one is wondering why I am asking. I have been looking for an Explorer I for a while. I thought I would eventually buy an early 1016, but I kept reading that I should hold out for a 6610. A few weeks ago, the one pictured showed up at auction. I really tried to be reasonable and impartial, but but in the end impulse took over and I went for it. Directly after, I began feeling I hadn't done enough research and now I'm wanting some feedback from the experts. Anyway, I'd appreciate any honest feedback.

While I have personally never owned any examples with a gold depth rating (only red), this example does indeed appear to be correct and original. Congrats on finding such a nice example, it was definitely worth the wait!

What a beautiful watch. Definitely better looking than most 1016s out there. I love the depth rating. And all of the text

great watch

Not a pro, so can't really provide any insight in regards to authenticity but looks like a beauty. Also haven't seen the gilt depth rating before. Here's mine.

That's a beautiful 6610. I would strongly advise using a full 20mm strap, though!

Understood, Adam. The correct spring bars and a pair of new straps are on their way already.

Thanks for all the responses. Last one with the correct spring bars and a new strap.

Hands look relumed. Make sure to bring a Geiger counter and black light to inspect the luminous on the dial when you see it in person. I don't know enough about 1016s to be of more help.

The watch is a 6610, and I think he already owns it. The hands may indeed be relumed, but the dial looks perfect. Indeed, that is one of the best-looking 6610 dials I have seen in nearly 20 years. Nice watch!

What should I expect to see from these old dials under a blacklight? Does the lume from the Radium glow at all any more? I was under the impression that, more than likely, there would be none. Thanks.

Radium has a particular speckled look that is best seen rather than described. I posted a shot on IG and on Flickr awhile back of two 6538s. The one on Flickr should be easy to find. Don't confuse it with the super lume at 6 o' clock that glows heavily...

Lume is officially dead... but the geiger counter went nuts.
