Hello everyone!
I'm considering getting a datejust II with the Roman numerals and blue dial with the fluted bezel. It will be my only watch so will be worn while dressing up or jeans and a t shirt. I've considered getting a sub although it just doesn't appeal to my eye as much. What are your guys thoughts? Would a datejust work ok to be warn in very casual settings as well? Thanks in advance!

A Datejust isn't a formal watch. The Cellini line is Rolex dressy stuff.

I have a couple of Datejusts and wear them with anything. They can dress up or down.

Just ordered a Datejust ll couple days ago. With blue dial, I find it not too formal. Some people think fluted bezel fit in formal occasions. I somewhat agree but also think is classic. Or you can try out the polished bezel. It looks very sporty. Both bezels can be a daily watch. Try it out and see if she smiles to you.

Yup, I was about to say... put it on Oyster and it can go with just about anything. Jubilee feels a bit more formal/dressy to me.

It is an oyster cased sport watch. Though I get away with wearing it with a suit all the time.

Perhaps in a greasy tee shirt and dirty jeans while doing a brake job...lol.

Even then, I've seen all the techs at Pep Boys wearing DJ's (admittedly, with smooth bezels and oyster bracelets) ;)

The only issue for me would be the size of a DJII as, in my mind, it wears pretty big.

An oyster, in general, can be as low key as you want. You can always tone it down by matching the dial colour with a leather or NATO strap.

I've worn my DJ skiing and I've worn it luxury shopping, with very muddy clothes on a dog walk and all dressed up for a posh meal.

At 41mm the Datejust II is not especially dressy. I would not worry about it.
