Pepsi or Smurf
I understand both are popular PM watches. It would be great if you can share your choice and the reason of choosing it. Thanks in advance

It is a complete no brainier. You want to choose one when in fact you need both.

I voted Smurf only because I wouldn't get the Pepsi. If there was a WG Coke, I'd pick that over the Smurf.

Wg smurf. I already had the blnr and the smurf complemented it perfectly. Besides I couldn't get used to the cranberry purple bezel of the blro.

Smurf for me. They reason for me was easy. I really like my BLNR but didn't want two GMT's so I flipped my TT Sub and cash for the Smurf.

Smurf easy. Blue, blue, and more blue!
The BLRO bezel looks off with the purplish and salmon pink colors. |

The yellow gold Smurf is the best looking Rolex watch hands down. Yellow gold day date would be second place.

BLRO. I own it and have owned the YG sunburst sub. If the smurf had a sunburst dial I would consider.

Have to give credit to A Blog to Watch. Here's the link to their article along with more pics of that BLRO.

This hits home, just made the switch. Blro. Bright light blue bezel proved too much for me. Needs a sunburst to provide some color variation in bezel / dial

Pepsi. A GMT Master, being conceived as an elite pilot's watch, makes sense in gold. A diving watch... not so much. But I'm weird like that.
And I really wish the white gold sub had a much darker blue dial and bezel. Smurf is an apt nickname, but IMO not in a good way |

Tried the pepsi on at my AD. Looks absolutely amazing in person and I love the 2 color bezel. I think the surf has too much blue for me. Beautiful watch, just not my cuppa.

Pepsi has much more "pop" in my opinion and ... I really like the polished center links.

BLRO. The GMT function and bi-colour bezel seal the deal for me.

BLRO because..
I love GMT's and find their function useful to me every day. Spending $25,000-plus for a boss, gold example makes perfect sense. I have absolutely no use for a dive watch, and don't feel like pretending I do. Not any price, let alone $25,000-plus. Someone from 1956 would easily recognize a modern BLRO as a Rolex GMT with it's blue/red bezel, 24-hour hand, and cyclops without having to read the fine print. It's true to the original look, and if you told him it had gotten to be known by the moniker "Pepsi" you wouldn't have to explain why, he'd get it. Many adults back then drank Pepsi, Coke, etc. and can still relate to it. On the other hand, someone from 1956 would have to read the fine print on the dial of the blue, cyclops-ed "smurf" in order to know it was a Submariner, and when you tried to explain to him what a "smurf" was (because they would have no clue) it would and should be highly embarrassing. If you went on to tell him about "Kermits" and "Hulks" and other assorted kids' cartoons, puppets, and comic book figures it would only get worse. |
