Rolex as a Gift?
How many of you have given a Rolex as a gift? I have to say that I have been fortunate enough to do this several times and, in my experience, giving a Rolex is an extremely fun and momentous event. I received my first as a Christmas present when I was 13 years old, after many years of learning about them, staring at others' watches and doodling the Rolex crown on my notes at school. So for me, I can literally say that presenting someone else with their first Rolex is just like Christmas Day for me all over again!

I could never afford to give one as a gift, although did sell one to help a mate out. But have had the joy of receiving one as a gift. Great experience

I have bought other watches for gifts but never Rolex yet. As selfish and bad as this may sound lol i'm taking care of #1's collection needs first. Then who ever is special to me can start to get all theirs.

Bill, had your children been wanting those specific watches for some time? Since you gave your own, what did you replace with? When you presented them, did you get them fully cleaned and serviced and re-packaged as best as possible beforehand?

I have found that I really enjoy being in the company of others who are also wearing a Rolex.

I bought my mom a Rolex for her 60th birthday (one of the new, COSC Air Kings: pink dial, arabic numerals). She was flabbergasted. It was worth every penny.

That's a great story! Exactly what I was hoping to hear! As hard as it is not to look at the watch in the box when they open it (because it's just so beautiful and my eyes are trained to seek out any Rolex in the room), I have to be careful to watch their expression carefully when their eyes first meet their new Rolex. Truly awesome! Keep them coming!

I gave my wife a SS Ladies DJ for her birthday two years ago. I must say she was pleasantly surprised as she really didn't know about the Rolex name at the time.

If it weren't for the concept of self-gifting I'd only own a Timex.

No wonder he loves it. Yes, it's a Rolex, but more importantly, you gave it to him .

Just gave my sister a black dial pink markers datejust. She was wanting a Tag so I had to step up. I kinda owed her anyway from a house we had bought together a few years back and I just sold recently. Made more money than we split back then. So all's fair. Plus she's my big sis and I love her and she deserves it.

I would love to give my father a Rolex but there is no way he would accept it and although he is into watches he would probably bemoan the fact that it is not as accurate as his quartz watches. Yes, he is a curmudgeonly old fart...

If I had money like "ELVIS" I would be giving away "ROLEX'S" like he gave away cadillacs!
By the way Elton John has been known to give away a few!
