I joined the Yacht Club

Hello all

Well after a sleepless night and a nail-biting few days, my ship has docked and I'm now the proud owner of a 16622 Yacht Master.

I remember this was the first Rolex I ever really fell in love with many years ago when I saw one glistening in the sunshine at an AD display window whilst on holiday.

This watch is a 2011. Its been a safe queen all it's life and I had been eyeing one for a while now to add to my ever growing Rolex collection, saw this one, the price was right and a deal was struck.

I've snapped a few pics with the trusty iPhone. They are raw except for the fact I've edited out the serial number on the rehaut. I've also included a close up of the dial to try and show off the sparkle in the sunshine

Being a later dial model she has the finer finish dial, but the sparkle is still ever apparent.

It's devilishly hard to photograph this watch and show off its naked eye beauty and it's true, on the wrist and in the metal, photo's don't do this watch justice.

Loving it a lot so far......enjoy.

I appreciate all the positive comments, many thanks.

This Yacht really is an overlooked treasure in the Rolex line up. Distinctively different and in my mind the most precious looking Rolex in the line up without being made from precious metal in the traditional Rolex sense.

For me this will likely be a dress watch for special occasions but I also realise it is hardy enough to be a daily beater.

Joli160......I've been admiring your red date wheel mod for some time on this and other threads. Very nice. I may consider it for this.

I also have the bracelet off my GMT2C in the box upstairs as I swapped that out for a sub bracelet a few weeks back. I may well put the clasp from it on this watch as I understand it should be a straight swap.

Still can't stop admiring this watch. It's beautiful.

Changing the clasp for a GMT2c is a really good mod, should be an easy fit. I have a DJ clasp on my Oyster bracelet, because of it smaller size which looks good imho on the elegant YM. Actually fitted a roulette date wheel, alternating black and red days, works for me.
