If I'm not mistaken it's 1.4mm?

I don't mean to sound condesending, but usually someone who has the experience to properly remove and adjust the bracelet on a watch without scratching up or stripping the screws already has a variety of small screwdrives and can just see which one fits. The screws on an AP are very soft in comparison to Rolex screws, very easy to strip if you are not careful.

Maybe better to leave it to a professional jeweler.

1.4 is the correct answer but I use a 1.19 to give myself a little more room as to not damage the opening, also provides enough torque that you dont chew out the slot in the screw head.

Make sure you get good quality stuff otherwise you aint going to have a good time. My eight screwdriver set was 400 bucks.

Ill add, all screwdrivers are NOT created equal, usually a flat ground tip will work best to maximize contact area and ~torque load.

i have 3 different high quality screwdrivers of the same size and they are all constructed significantly different… the Bergeon being the worst.

i appreciate doing it myself, as long as caution and patience is applied.

And remember there may be loctite on the screws so heating it up with a hairdryer may be necessary if there is a lot of resistance. If it has been serviced by AP they do use loctite unless you specifically ask them not to use it.

Thank you everyone.

I'm due to receive a BNIB 15400 next week from a grey dealer. Not sure how the AP boutique in Geneva will feel about me walking in to get it sized.... I have been there recently to look at watches...

You do not need two screwdrivers to remove links from a 15400 bracelet.

Should be fine, can just say you bought it from another AD on holiday and had no time to size it, really doubt they won't just do it even without an explanation.

You're absolutely right. For whatever reason, I was thinking of bracelet/strap replacement at the watch case.

There is something quite satisfying knowing that you can make adjustments to your own timepiece, especially ones as simple as bracelet sizing. If you can use a screwdriver you can size your bracelet.

Looking to resurrect this thread here...

So would all the advice in this thread also apply to a ROO 42mm?

If so what's the end all be all screw driver? I'm assuming a Bergeon, but having a hard time finding the 1.4mm flat ground tip that's. Been suggested. Thanks!

I don't know that it is 1.4 so get confirmation on that but I needed a 1.4 for my pelagos, unlike the 1.6 I have for my rolex. I bought a cut out (flat tip) from ebay for 15 bucks shipped. It's not the highest quality tool but more than adequate and I also didn't see an appropriate bergeon.

They are out there though as I believe panerai requires the same.

This one. (No affiliation)

Chadri, for the 42 mm ROOs you will need a 1.8 mm or 2.0 mm screwdriver for the case, 1.4 mm for bracelet links, hairdryer (bracelet links are very tight and heat loosens the Loctite), Loctite 222 (so that the screws don't back out due to everyday wear/vibrations), and a bit of care/patience. I have Bergeons and they work great.

Thank you sam!

Happen to have a screw driver model number from Bergeon. I'm pretty paranoid about damaging screws.

Thanks!

You're welcome! Bergeon has a huge collection that you can choose from that would do the job. I bought mine from Otto Frei and I chose the following:
Bergeon 5971-140 Drum Barrel 1.40 mm
Bergeon 30080-16 1.80 mm
Bergeon 30081-200 2.00 mm

I find that the drum barrel helps with the grip when you work on the bracelet to remove links which I mentioned have very tight screws. Those are the ones that you really need to heat up to loosen the Loctite.
