SD, although I am biased because I have one. The GMT, particularly the 16710 reference, is a fine time piece and very comfortable as well. The bezel insert is more appealing to me on the Sub/SD though.

I've been faced with this decision before and have stuck with the SD. Looking back probably would have made a way to keep both haha. Love the versatility of the GMT

Definitely the 16710 is the keeper for me, if it were me making the decision.

Wow the GMT crushed the SD!
The 16710 has to be one of the hottest sport models on the used market right now. I wonder why it is in such high demand right now. It has been discontinued for almost 8 years! When I first started seriously tracking the used market back in late 2011 early 2012, the 16710 seemed to be only as popular as the 16610 or 16600, and their used market prices seemed to be at a parity. Not so much any more. I wonder what changed?

Wow. I own exactly those two (mine's a 16710-A "Coke", don't have the other inserts yet), down to the year.
I think the 16600 is the most robust "everyday" watch Rolex ever made. I'd HATE to have to part with mine. However, if I HAD to choose I'd keep my GMT. A Rolex GMT is more than capable of handling all of my "diver" needs- (pause here while I quit laughing)- and it has the GMT functionality which I really _do_ use... a LOT. But I'd still hate parting with the Sea Dweller. It's a very gentlemanly bad-ass watch. Hilo PS: I'm not sure I'd agree to owning a Panerai if it meant I had to give up one of my Rolexes... |

I have both. The SD is my every day watch. However the GMT is very special. I'd hate to have to make that choice.

I'm a big fan of the 16710, so the PEPSI unless you are a serious diver.

Well decision has been made and although keeping the GMT was a landslide winner in the pole I have decided to keep the 16600 SD on account that on the rare occasion I do wear the GMT it just doesn't feel as sturdy as the rest of my watches although it is maybe that little bit more versatile with its 3 bezels.
Thanks for everyones input.

Sadly this pic was taken a couple of years ago and I swapped the Lug Hole SD for a Panerai 372. The SD I have now is a 2005 F serial with no lug holes.
Its being kept this time too, its my 5th SD
