Hi guys,

I'd appreciate your input on the quality of the alignment and spacing of the screws on the bezel of the watch in the picture below. I have some concerns, but don't know if I'm imagining things or my standards are too high (!). I'm sorry the photo isn't bigger or better quality but it's all I have right now. You'll probably have to zoom in to see the screws properly.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Not an AP expert, the alignment and spacing of be screws seems to be fine, the rotation of the screws' slots are correct too. Hope this helps.

Is this an AD purchase or Private party?

Looks correct to me but...

If you're not comfortable move on.

The dial spacing looks off to me, but it could just be the photo. "Automatic" looks to be too high on the dial to me.

Thanks guys, I feel much better now! The seller is fine - the watch is definitely genuine, I just thought the QC on the screws might be off, but you have to look really close and I guess it's part of the hand made joy of AP :)

I know exactly what you mean. I was thinking about that as well after I picked up my watch and took several photos.

I went online and took a look at a lot of other photos. They are all like that, you can only really see it if you look for it or you zoom in real close. This is my watch.

I think because the case is actually held together by the screws, when they torque down the screws from the case back it turns the screws on the front a bit so the alignment might be a little off. In addition the screws on the royal oak are made of white gold which is softer than steel. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe on the offshore the screws are made of steel so it might be able to withstand a higher torque?

Yes exactly. To be honest my bigger concern with the watch I'm looking it as that a couple of the slots in the screw heads seem to be off centre (rather than just misaligned, which would be much easier to fix of course). I can see that in a very minor way on yours too - the screw at 10 o'clock.

Actually having looked again that could be an optical illusion caused by the screw being out of alignment ... hopefully that's the case for my watch too (I see it in person next week so don't know yet).

The screws near the 1 and 10 o'clock markers do look a little off in the pics, but could just be the angle. Looks fine otherwise!

The way the light plays off all the different metals on the case makes for many illusions haha.

Just looked at a pic the auto is placed right and the screws look fine as well, I think there is no problem with it at all, if you want a definitive advise, though at 90% it's good, get pics of the movement, impossible to fake well, it's the best giveaway

It's not a great pic but the bottom line is get it checked to sleep well at night.

To repeat guys - the watch is definitely genuine (it's coming from AP!). I was just wondering whether the screw alignment and general quality was up to spec, because it isn't perfect. I believe it's relatively normal now though, and the alignment can be easily fixed (by AP of course, not me!). Apologies, I should have given more information up front but I didn't want to give any preconceived ideas as to what I thought might be wrong.

I see the watch in person next week, when hopefully I'll buy it :)

Well, no. It's not perfect but very few of these watches are, and it can be easily adjusted. But I appreciate your opinion :)

Ok, that would have helped as it seemed you were more on the genuine then on the QC question, so yes it looks fine and is a beauty you should get it, when I see a blue dial I never get how it's possible to want any other dial color, but tastes right...

How are the alignment of the screws, seeing this thread is making me look at mine and bugging me more and more. Wondering if I should take it to an AD and ask if they would realign them haha.

They're fine (not 100% perfect but very close, nobody would ever notice without magnification), I suspect it was mostly the heavy plastic wrapping and low resolution photo that was making things look worse the they really were.
