15202 v. 116719BLRO Don't want to break the rules (poll)

I plan on keeping both but put this pull up in the AP section and it is very weighed one way..curious if it will be swayed the other way over here!

15202 or 116719BLRO

Both modern takes on timeless icons. The pepsi trades at a little higher price point and is a precious metal with lots of tech.. the 15202 needs no introduction, no quickset date but my oh my it's gorgeous. If the results end up being the opposite of what is happening on my other poll then I'll know that these polls are never a good idea hahaha

I would prefer the Pepsi but the AP is probably going to hold value better. What about a Nautilus instead???

I voted and acquired the Jumbo over the BLRO. A WG Coke might have been a different story.

If you go for the AP, bare in mind that the service costs are ridiculous and they can take up to 16 weeks to return your watch.

I voted BLRO. I do really appreciate the pedigree of the 15202, and in a rounded collection you'd have it along with the 5711. For me personally, I don't find the Royal Oak bracelets all that comfortable on my wrist and dare say the edges feel sharp....that being said I went with the 5711 instead and will likely add the BLRO next year.

Around the houses, but I wanted to explain my vote.

BLRO ...
Not a fan of AP or PP...
Just not into those designs for watches. That being said;
I highly respect the craftsmanship and engineering though !!!
The 5711 catches my fancy somewhat
with a blue or white dial ...

The AP doesn't do it for me. It's all abouth personal taste. I would like to add the 5711 one day.
But between these two: BLRO all the way...

You're right it is the last thing

Notable owners: Pepsi; Magnum P.I, world class pilots / Royal Oak; Domestic abuser Chris Brown, Jay z, lil wayne and other equally tacky "urban" people that wear gold chains and snap-backs

Material: Pepsi Gold/Ceramic / Royal Oak steel

Price (second hand): Pepsi £18,000 / Royal Oak no idea.......but it loses just as much value as any gold piece that's for sure.

Water resistance: Pepsi 100m / Royal Oak 50m

Width: Pepsi 40mm (40mm is the sweet spot!) / Royal Oak 41mm

Complications: Pepsi 2 / Royal Oak 1

Service time : Pepsi 3-5 weeks / Royal Oak 12-16 weeks

Service cost : Pepsi £250 every 7-10 years / Royal Oak £600 every 3-5 years

I think its pretty obvious who the winner is. A royal oak is going to get boring after a while, its just a plain steel watch after all, but you can guarantee that solid gold Pepsi GMT will never become boring.

Sounds like you really don't know wtf you're talking about here... You admitingly have no idea about the value, so why bring it up w/o a lil research to prove or disprove your statement?

The Jumbo is 39mm, NOT 41mm. Again, no idea what you're talking about.

Service time for an AP, 12-16 weeks... Where did you come up with this? Lemme guess, same place you found the Jumbo is 41mm, in BS land.

As for your "notable owners", EVERY brand is going to have good and bad owners. And on that note, if you're going with make believe ppl (Magnum PI), then I'm gonna throw in Rolex wearing Mafioso Tony Soprano. You do know he kills ppl right? Runs gambling and prostitution rings too... Be hey, that's cool, right?

Two of my all-time favorites.
BLRO would be my choice.
Both beautifully designed and rich in history but I'd be more comfortable wearing the BLRO on a day to day basis without worry.

Obviously you've never owned an AP as many your 'facts' are wrong.

Hmmm....'tacky urban person' (could you please expand on your definition).

BTW looks like the 'non-Rolex' friends you listed didn't get the memo:

For the OP, both great watches ideal for any collection.

I prefer the 15202. It has the amazing ability to grow on you with time. I don't wear it daily although you easily could. It gives me a "wow" every time I put it on. The craftmanship is beyond words. It is so sleek, stealth, and sexy. The movement is legendary. To top it off, I was born in 1972, which is the year the original Jumbo was introduced. If you read more about this watch, you will encounter how it was one of the most important SS luxury watches to compete with the Japanese quartz watches of the 70's, which came close to wiping out the swiss mechanical industry. The horological importance of this reference is monumental. The BLRO is awesome and I still look to get it one day but for me, I'd pick the 15202 everytime

You should have kept your mouth closed instead of removing all doubt that you haven't the slightest clue about AP.

Today I would take the BLRO but at times no doubt the 15202 has called my name. I find myself gravitating back home to rolex these days after swimming in AP and PP for a few years. When I put a watch on, I like to leave it on and rolex fits that mold.

Both amazing watches for a laundry list of reasons. The BLRO gives you the the feel of gold without the bling. The AP, although not gold gives you a true grail that truly flies under the radar.

When I'm ready to buy a PM Rolex, it will be the BLRO.

My next AP will most likely be the Jumbo.

But not sure that I would try to compare the two any further than simply deciding which one I want next. They are just both so fantastic.

I think the only way to answer this question is to end up deciding which brand you want. Rolex or AP. I would start there and then the decision will be much easier.

Both the 15202 and GMT blue/red are iconic as steel watches, so between the two the AP makes more sense IMO.

I like both but would lean towards the AP. I really think you need both in a collection.

I'll also add I don't know where people pull these AP service times and prices from. I have an AP getting serviced at Clearwater right now. Less than $1k and 4 week turnaround time. It's the 7th AP I've sent to Clearwater and AP service is probably the best in the business.
