The Horse, Bird, Castle and Stars

Had some fun the other day with a 10X loupe and my iPhone. Got me thinking...

Who would like to educate me on the significance of these symbols, so beautifully crafted on the gold oscillating weight?

Amazing pics, I believe, if I remember correctly, those are the family crest of the Audemars and Piguet families?

That is correct. They are carved/ingraved by hand. For certain models AP will even make custom rotors with the owner's family crest and initials.

You can find very good information (by our own Mr. H) regarding the "coat of arms" in the following link:

Yes, yes, yes... all look about right! Thank you.

Here is an excerpt from the website...
"This beautiful and precise calibre, is fully decorated with Côtes de Genève on all bridges and comes with a stunning bi-directional 22k gold rotor. The rotor features the coats of arms for the Audemars and Piguet families, all done with immaculate attention to detail."

Some more meanings...

Ok so did a little more research here and this is what I've come up with for meanings...

Audemars Coat of Arms:
Dove - Loving constancy and peace; the Holy Spirit; with an olive branch in its bill, it signifies a harbinger of good tidings
Star(s) - Celestial goodness; noble person; Excellence
Tower and Flag - (Tower) Safety and grandeur (Flag) Refers to special action in which bearer was captured, or a reward for valiant service

Piguet Coat of Arms:
Horse and cross is definitely the most difficlut to research. There's meanings for a dozen different horse symbols and there's also a dozen meanings for different crosses. I'm kind of guessing here but here goes...
Cross that the horse is holding - Looks like an Ankh to me which is a design resembling a cross but having a loop instead of the top arm, used in ancient Egypt as a symbol of life.
Horse - Readiness for all employments for king and country
Star(s) - Celestial goodness; noble person; Excellence

I'd hope these specific meanings can be updated further as some more info is researched and discovered.

Thanks!

I'm designing a coat of arms now for a project, all the escutcheons, supporters, rampant lions and passant Griffins, would be amazing to have them on the rotor of your watch. A good Motto for a horologist would be Esse Quam Videri, To be and not to seem. No fakes here.
