I am a HUGE Fender fanatic!!!! Love all things Stratocaster. The sound cannot be duplicated, especially with the switch in neck pick up and the amp a little dirty!!
The Fender factory is in the city next to where I live.. I salivate everytime we drive by it. I do own a Fender Standard Deluxe called the "None more Black" The body and pick guard are black, the neck is ebony and has no fret markings, and the head stock is black and laced with a silver spaghetti "Fender" logo. I will try and post some pics later :) |

Although i love my fenders and gibsons, i must say that the best guitars i have owned have been ESP Guitars.
I had a ESP Kirk Hammet KH2 Signature and an ESP M1 and they both just rocked, had near perfect build quality, straight as an arrow neck, playable all the way up and down, sturdy, and lasted forever. I sold them both when i got into the Gibson/fender mood as they held value, kind of like there are "better" watches out there then rolex, but we stick to rolex becuase of the subtle qualities that sing to us. Gibson, you got to be careful, i bought a Les Paul Custom Black Beauty for 6000 without trying it out (tourist shopping, yup big mistake) got it back home and the nut and intonation was so bad that even the AD felt apologetic and gave me a refund. If you bought an ESP for 6000, it would pretty much be spot on. Imho... :) |

Cool guitars guys. Here's mine, its a Gibson Les Paul VOS Slash Custom Shop Standard. They were released on 1 April 2008 with a production run of 400. I heard they were already all sold out.
Mine has been used a little and you know unless you keep something like this in the case, (just like a Rolex) you are going to get a little wear & tear. Strange you could buy a 'shop aged' Slash for $10K, funny how it costs an extra $5K to get the manufacturer to put some scratches and dings into the guitar to give it an aged look.

Guitar collecting can be quite a bug, and there are some parallels with watches.
It seems there is a surprising number of chief executives, many of whom aren't professional musicians. They grew up with rock music and now drive the guitar collecting market upwards. For example Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, his collection includes the white 1968 Stratocaster that Jimi Hendrix played at Woodstock in August 1969. Bought from an Italian disk jockey for $1.3 million. It seems with guitars a lot of collectors love the instrument, for the way it looks, sounds and feels. However, another reason is what the guitar represents: their youth. "There's a little bit of the outlaw in the electric guitar," marketer Simons says. "What's more, CEOs are the business world's version of rock stars, and a climate-controlled closet humidor full of vintage instruments is a link back to a time when they were able to practice the occasional bad behaviors without repercussions. Those guitars are reminders of when the good times really rolled." Extract Source: The Chief Executive Nov 2005.

I pledge allegiance to the band (Jack Black - School of Rock)
So now I have your attention, here is my Gibson Slash VOS No.359 of 400 world wide. All I have to do is work out now how to change this site from Rolex Forums to Gibson Les Paul forums. I seem to get some buzz from low E when fretted, any ideas?

Being a fender man to the bone, this is the first Gibson I bought myself, a 1975 Gibson Flying V. Has been re-finished black sometime in its life, used to be natural. Through my JCM800 it is heaven....Too bad you cant play em sitting down though...
My dream guitar is a 1963 Fender Stratocaster in sonic blue with a rosewood fingerboard. I'd also like a slab board strat. Too bad idiot collectors buying them for nothing more than their value have pushed the value to 20-40k. |

Have you tried raising the action on the bass side of the bridge? Sometimes that's all you need. Also , check your neck relief. You may need to tweak the truss rod just a bit if the neck is bowing backwards.

Thanks a lot Leighton, I think you are spot on.
I raised one side of the bridge and played last night. I think it's fixed. Maybe I should put new strings on (10's) as I haven't changed strings since I bought it off the previous owner. That's a great looking Flying V Zman86. I didn't realise you had a problem playing that while sitting down, but it makes sense now. Anyway it looks great. Those darn collectors they push the price of everything through the roof Vintage Gibson guitars like vintage Rolex can be $30,000 these days which is quite a lot that's for sure.
