Day Date 40 On Leather
Hi All,
Got a RG DD40, but as I did with my YG DD2, was thinking about buying a leather strap to be able to change the look every now and again. Does anyone know where you could buy end links that fit the DD40 model as I prefer the look with end links than just raw metal, and it makes it look more finished. Thanks, David |

It's the nicest bracelet Rolex makes. I wouldn't change it.

I asked my AD about fitting a leather strap when I bought a DD40; he looked like he was having a seizure.
I won't ask again...but he did manage to say that Rolex offer no suitable leather strap. So that's us told. |

I am thinking of pulling my platinum bracelet off and whacking a Nato on for some variety.........

Good idea OP. Variety is the spice of life, and a leather strap is a good way to change the look every now and again. Good luck finding something suitable!

I've been toying with the same idea but is it sacrilege to remove a President bracelet!? haha I figure anyone dropping this much on a watch shouldn't care about what people think and get one specially made.. lots of fantastic custom leather guys around. Some can be found on this forum. The issue we face is custom end links to fit a DD40. Also something that can be fabricated if you know a jeweller willing to make them for you. The issue for me is that mine is WG and I don't know a Jeweller that can really match the quality of Rolex WG. If you have YG go for it. One of a kind ;)
If you manage to do it please post pics.

All Rolex Oyster models look their best on their original bracelets. Whacking on a rubber is just to scratch the wanting a new watch itch - have to say the DSSD looks good on Rubber, but probably because of the bracelet proportions.

While they look fine, if you've paid for the President then you really have to use it otherwise it's just sacrilege, or Apostasy, to use the parlance of our times. But seriously, as a change up it is no problem, just not for too long.

totally agree! President bracelet is amazing, espcicial the new ones on the DD40. Leather with end links is a sweet look though |

Personally, I like the leather. It's a great change-up and brings elegance to a classic timepiece.

Guys calm down it's not like he said he's going to melt the president band down to pay for the end links
In fact what he intends to do will preserve the bracelet, when he's not wearing it he could put it in a shrine or something |

I could never bring myself to put a DD on leather or rubber straps. They look fine, some are quite nice but IMO the bracelets are part of what make the DD so special.

Looking at this myself. Rolex sells the 36 with leather. Why is it off limits for the 40?
Leather has to be an option for me. Just personal preference. |

I've found someone to make custom gold endlinks to match the presi bracelet and will be ordering soon! Too bad Rolex hasn't added an option yet. The 40 is definitely limited by comparison to the 36. I've been hoping that at least annually they'd release a new dial option or bracelet option. Cheers
