How to determine if a 15400 is fake?

Just wondering what are the key things to look at when purchasing a used 15400 to determine if its real or not? Are there things that are very obvious?

The movement. But who is to say you won't get real pics but get sent a fake. If you are worried you are buying from the wrong place.

Best way to determine, post front and back detailed pics right here...you'll get your answer pretty quickly.

Buy the seller

Even if I am buying a watch that is 25% of the price of an AP, I know who I am buying from 1st so there is no worry about a scam. Suggest you do the same.

What color dial do you want? I brought my new black dialed 15400 from a trusted seller here the other day. Everything went perfect. Great price too. I know he still has a white diled 15400. PM me if your interested.

I already have one, and I don't doubt its real since its a trusted seller, but I asked more on curiosity since there seems to be a lot of fakes out there. I'll still post some pics of mine.

Everybody talks about fakes. With Rolex too. I've never seen them.

It's easier to tell a fake AP RO than say a rolex. The movement is a dead giveaway. Also the case and dial work is more difficult to accurately replicate.

If you're only saving 25% off retail and you're worried about the seller, you'd be far better off going through one of the forum dealers. For a $17k retail watch, worrying about the authenticity isn't worth the <$1000 you're saving IMO.

Go on eBay there's a ton of them, or go here on the "watch out" sub section, there are a lot out there...

Main thing is the movement, one of the great blessings of open casebacks, and the tapisserie dial patterns.

As long as you're buying the seller, you should be safe. Make sure it's complete and yes, posting some pics (as long as you can confirm it's the exact watch you're buying) helps!

As I stated before, a scary but true fact...

"The net profit of the estimated 40 million counterfeit watches sold each year is valued at roughly $1 billion. The trade is equal to 6 percent of the Swiss Watch Industry’s exports"

Have no illusions sir, they are out there

I wouldn’t put a whole lot of faith in the estimated numbers or value, that that report contained.
The FHH’s number was twice what the Deloitte report themselves estimated, which had a spread of 10 million itself.
So, according to their “findings”, the value of each hooky watch is estimated to be anything from $25 to $50 or $100 – talk about hedging their bets!

I agree. I have seen some good replicas, but one thing they can't replicate is the movement.

I don't hang on every whim of news to be exact sir. However your slice it...millions of fake counterfeit watches are being produced and sold every year period. And that's a sh!t load of watches out in the public year after year!!!

How much did you pay for it? If you paid for it as much as the price of the fake you should have a laugh at the seller
