Sorry not for me Jason like my Rolex as they are supposed to be IMHO its trying to portray something its not but if you like it that's all that matters.

Also I would have agreed with your statement that the watch was still "100% Rolex" until you welded in springbars. Unless you obtained original Rolex weld in springbars then that would constitute an 'aftermarket' modification.
My question too

I think you bought it like this, but any idea why a maxi dial/hands were swapped for subc dial/hands? Just for lume color?
Probably could have saved a few bucks and bought a 16610 vs a 16610LV
Anyway, I kinda like it enjoy

It's true. Markus could have started with a 16610LN and probably saved a few shekels. I'm not sure why he didn't. I do know at the time, prices for LVs weren't through the roof. As far as the Chromalight, I know Markus prefers the blue lume. Why did he swap maxi dial for maxi dial? Because he prefers blue lume and because he can. It's the same reason that I had ABC install the welded bars.......I had $500 burning a hole in my pocket and it's what I wanted.

ABOLOUTELY AMAZING Jason - I love what you've done!! Hopefully Rolex is watching!

Sam (SC11) did something similar to a 114060 and that was also extremely well-executed by ABC!

Just Arrived From ABC -- Highly Modified **Purists Beware**

I read somewhere of people converting newer 116610 subC pillars to the now vintage, slimmer style of the 16610; wonder if ABC are the ones doing that conversion

I have a BB Red. It's going on the chopping block due to its size. If it were 38-39mm, I would keep it, but I just don't like the 41mm size and never wear it.

I like it.....a lot!!! The only thing I would be tempted do differently would be to leave the LV insert in.

Congrats on a great looking Rolex!!

Similar work but different visions this to me is a modern interpretation of a classic look and very well done.

Exactly! Thanks for clearly stating what I was fumbling around trying to say Peter. But, as we both stated Jason, you are happy with it and that is all that matters. Congratulations again!

I do get what you both are saying. I do also believe that Rolex once made watches for explorers that were on the cutting edge of different frontiers including exploring the bottom of the ocean, attempting to break the sound barrier, climb the highest mountain, fly in outer space, and survive the coldest Antarctic expedition. Unfortunately, they have left their roots and make jewelry now.

This watch is an attempt to improve upon their shortcomings and make something that is 'better' for my endeavors. Granted, it will only be diving to 40 meters, or hiking in the Alps, or flying 38 thousand feet in the sky, or maybe hiking in the snow in Alaska......but that is the best I can do at the moment. A watch should fulfill all the romantic needs each one of us have concerning the explorer in all of us.

loving it ,,, red seconds hand and lug holes would have been perfect ,
interesting to see that shaving the cg seems to make the crown look bigger.
great result though.

How cool would it be with a bead blast finish?

You've got guts, my friend, to do that to an LV. I love seeing pics of modified Rolexes that still keeps the element of Rolex-ness in their modifications. If you know what I mean. Fixed bars. Very cool.
