Peter, I love it. I am a Cyclops lover and I think it looks great, I would do the same.

If it looks crooked in any picture, it is the angle I took the picture at. It is perfectly centered and straight in real life.

EDIT: I just looked up "on the bonk" and I have no idea what you are referring to...

Awesome job, perfectly executed. One question, why not a new crystal with cyclops on it?

It is small. I can barely read the date with my readers on.

But Grady is right. Now is the time to start looking at some reading glasses. Progressives, or the $5 disposable readers from wally world.

Nice job on the project. Can you get that Cyclops with ARC?

Bold move Peter, with a nice result. Nothing wrong with modifying your own Rolex....!

I know for a fact I would mess up this modification, so I will keep squinting to see the date on my SD16600....

If it's perfectly centred and straight in real life, then that's great and as I said, whilst I prefer the clean look, I think it's good that you've personalised your watch to suit your needs.

As for 'on the bonk', my apologies, local dialect doesn't always travel well across the pond!

I do realize that as I get older things really do get smaller....
I used to have enough of an astigmatism to warrant thick glasses. I was unable to read the big E on the charts without correction. I had two laser surgeries performed and was fortunate enough to have permanent correction so that at 63 I neither need glasses for distance or reading. Monovision can also be done using contacts and allows reading without wearing regular reading glasses (OK contacts are glasses, fwiw).

BTW; great job I might add!!!

I don't have issue with the mod; however I would have just swapped in a new or used Sub crystal and keep the SD one in a baggie for later.

And I hear you with needing date mag! It's a great feature!

I thought about it, but the cost was $22 for the mod I did. Pretty sure a crystal swap would be substantially higher and what i did is easily reversible.

The Sub date crystal is a different size diameter so wouldn't have worked anyway.

Concur, a bit squiffy.
I'd lay down some modelling masking tape to get it bang on.

Otherwise it looks great

The angle I took the pic at makes it look askew. It is not. Yesterday I scraped away all the excess glue around the base of the cyclops and it looks even better now.

nice work! I love the deep dial in the SD. I prefer the cyclops as well aesthetically. It's nice you personalized your watch, and the cyclops is just as easy to remove if need be as well.

I just returned from my local watchmaker. The SD had been running +10 sec fast a day so he regulated it to close to zero. He also pressure tested it. $20 and it took him about 15 minutes.

He commented on how good the cyclops looked and that I did a great job on it.

How long do you think that will stay on there? How will it hold up if it's exposed to the sea, swimming, and water sports?

Forever (or until I decide to take it off). That is mighty strong glue, and the same method Rolex uses to apply their cyclops lenses.

Really? How did you find out what method does Rolex use to place their cyclops onto the crystal?

I read this forum, and my watchmaker told me. They use crystal glue...not exactly an industry secret.

I think you've done a good job there.

Did you buy the cyclops from Rolex or are they available from other companies?

I can see the wheels turning for those who can save money buying 114060 and adding the cyclops.
