I really love the 116515 black but...

I have a plan to buy 116515 (daytona rose gold black dial with leather strap).

But I still skeptical about some points.



1. In your opinion, It can be everyday watch?

2. Do you guys think this watch is too much?
I work in government organization. I'm afraid that 116515 would be too flashy
or too blink- blink.

Or you think that is OK because it's not an all gold watch, so everyday use won't draw too much attention.

1. Yes. Absolutely...the bezel being ceramic and on leather is going to minimize wear that typically happens on the PM Daytona's, the bezel and the bracelet. So it's fine.

2. No...not at all. Again, I think the leather strap tones down the overall "bling" and it is a very tasteful watch.

I'm just the opposite.
1. I wouldn't wear this on an every day basis, not rose gold, not on a strap.
2. Yes, for the setting you describe, it's too distinctive, eye catching, may be viewed as over the top. "Ooh, look at him, Mr. Fancy Pants".
The Daytona, even in stainless, is a watch that people notice, whether they comment or not. In precious metal, x2.

Isn't too flashy for a day to day piece in my opinion. Depending on your type of government job you most likely have to wear long sleeved shirts anyways.

I would consider putting a rubber aftermarket strap on it though as the climate in Thailand would be tough on that leather strap!!

Not an everyday watch for me. I traded my SS Daytona for this and didn't wear that either as my everyday. My everyday is a Panerai.

While not knowing what it's like to have a government job in you country, or for which government, I think most Rolexes make fine daily wearers. IMHO, one on bracelet will hold up better than on a strap, especially in a humid climate. Other than that, most people won't notice your watch or at least won't be distracted by it. The RG Daytona is a great example of a semi under the radar Rolex, IMO. A full gold bracelet is kind of hard to disguise.

I don't know about it being unde the radar.. It's pretty out there. Obv not as much as a full on gold in your face oyster. But for me personally nothing beats a steel Rolex for everyday usage. Day in day out for a few life times

it may not be as eye catching as PM bracelet version but not sure that it would fly under the radar, if that is what you want it to do.
One of the most beautiful Rolex offerings, IMO, even if not as a daily wear.

If you're in Asia people generally are more aware of brands like Rolex and on top of that a gold Rolex. It's hard to be "flying under the radar" in your part of the world with a watch like that so, yes people will notice.
As far as a daily wear goes I wouldn't wear a watch with a leather strap in a hot humid country, unless you are prepared to shell out for a new strap every couple of years. When I go on vacation to a place like that I only take along a watch with a strap for dressy occasion like dining out.
Having said all that it's a gorgeous watch congratulations.

If you ask me, government and golden watch is not a healthy mix. May raise suspicion of corruption or just resentment with many a taxpayer. Just the wrong image, not really a rational thing

I wore my Everose Daytona to work at a government facility. It was a big mistake. It put a target on my back and I was told that the federal employees didn't appreciate me wearing it. It gives the impression that my contract is paying me too much if I can afford such a watch.

I wear my Sea Dweller 4000 everyday and no one cares or even realizes what it is.

As usual Mike is spot on and Steve too. I have had this watch all thru the winter and it's been no problem but recently it has gotten warmer here so I would def put it on rubber if you live in Bangkok or any hottish place for everyday. The RG is quite subtle and there is not that much of it, so those aspects are OK.

A gold watch at any government job could raise eyebrows but I don't know the cultural differences in Thailand.
But that aside, the alligator strap deserves better wear than desk diving IMHO. I agree with the pose suggesting a rubber strap - or even a NATO for daily use.
