Decided to sell the BLRO :), what next?

Decided to sell my BLRO to gather some funds for grad school in September. I didnt expect to be going back this year but I am excited so that is ok :). Maybe when I finish this nurse practitioner program I will be able to afford it again someday .

I loved the watch and the bezel looks almost identical to the vintage gmt from the 1950's. This is my favoriate variation of the pepsi. I highly recommend the 116719. It is a worthy watch to own in my opinion.

Thankfully I dont need all of the money for school so im looking to slowly rebuild my collection. I have a good spot on the daytonaC waitlist at my local AD and expect one to show around June/July. I think I will grab the white dial version. They also have a BBB ETA on strap in the display case. I was thinking about picking that up as a "beater". What do you guys think? Do I have a game plan?

Here is a parting photo.

Eta black bay black is definitely a good pickup and, for around $3500, one of the best values on the market today. And I'm hearing that they may have some collector value one day to boot due to their extremely limited run.

But if you want to go apples to apples with the complication, why not a blnr or an Ln (which you can get from a trusted seller in the $6000 range). And then you still have the gmt function.

Tudor would be a great choice...you cannot beat the price value proposition...not to mention the flexibility.

BBN is a great watch!!! Very good prices used in the secondary!!! That would fill a daily wearer spot quite nicely!!

Goodbye to a great watch

Edit: I didn't have a single "nice" watch until I was done with grad school

If you're considering a BB, how about a SubC ND or even an Explorer. Still retain that "Rolex" name on your wrist as you finish grad school. Both are still awesome watches. Also consider a Hulk?

Get the Black Bay black as a beater while waiting for the new DaytonaC? Sounds like a plan to me.

park the cash for now and pick up an Apple Watch for $300 or any Android equiv. the technology is very cool and useful for the classroom and there's always time after you get your parchment for rolexes.

But it also sounds like it's not *that* far off just keeping the BLRO when talking $ for $

Well school will cost around $20K CAD over 2 years and force me to work part time. The difference between BLRO and DaytonaC + BBB is about $10K CAD. That 10K is all I really need to prevent student loans :)

If I needed money I'd skip the overhyped daytona and look for a pepsi 1675 or 16710 with some charm and slight patina.

As the BLRO was your "grail" and you're already flipping it about three weeks after you got it, I'd recommend a good long think about the next one, rather than canvassing for opinions here. You'll also be needing a Pledge Membership if you want to try and sell here. I hope you don't take too much of a hit financially.

definitely the BBB would be a great choice to hold you over. Definitely a stunner for that price range, and not too many other choices for that price. Maybe can find like a used Rolex (16570 or 114270), or something for not too much more, but hard to pass up a brand new Tudor.

Congrats on continuing your education!
I think the Black Bay is as good as it gets in the 3k range. See how you feel with that while waiting for a call on the Daytona C. Would make a great pair while giving you the cash you need.

I would pick up a pre-owned BBB in the $2500 range and park the rest of the money. I would wait till I got the call on the new Daytona to try it on and see if it works. In the end I would probably pick up a Polar Explorer II 42mm to go with the BBB and wait till you finish school to get anything else. Those two watch can fit in any modern collection and add something else in later.

It is, but I do it every week, the BBN is the only SS I have at the moment. Real shame to sell the BLRO but not worth going into student debt for, plan seems fine.

Congrats on going back to school!

Why not keep the blro? If the depreciation will cost more than the interest, you're better off keeping it. Obviously you take a risk that if you don't graduate, you're in a bad situation, but you have the blro to help out pay back the loan.

And if you're willing to work for $10k, depending on how the loan is structured, when you graduate, you can drop that money into paying back toward the principle and further lower how much interest you have to pay.

Or...why not just forgo flip, work part time for a bit for it for some extra cash and then focus on the school? School and work is a rough combo. Then when you graduate and start working again, you can treat yourself with something nicer.
