Looking to step into the brand

Hello all,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Was hoping to get some feedback before I purchase a watch.

My mall's watch shop said they just got in a new black on black no date submariner.

They are asking $7500 for the piece and it comes with a 5 year Rolex warranty and an option for 0% financing for 3 years which is unnecessary, but nice to have.

They also have a black sub with date for $8600.

Is this a reasonable price? Should I keep looking?

0% over 3 years on full msrp is a pretty good deal, imo.

see if you can't get yourself a relatively decent discount for paying for it outright

As you are in the US consider buying from one of the TRF trusted sellers for a better price if you do not need the 3 year financing.

Was considering my local 0% 30 month financing too. Full retail plus tax sucks, but definitely helps with affording it. I can buy it out right but rather save that.

I don't know rules for talking prices on the forum, but I got mine (114060) at the AD in Atlantis Bahamas for no tax and much less. You will certainly not find the same deal in the states, but definitely try to get something off from your local AD if that is the purchase route you choose to go.

If your AD is not willing to play ball, I can certainly give you more specifics about my deal to try to motivate them to not loose a sale. PM me if necessary!

Agreed. I'm still going back and forth between a trusted seller on the forum or just biting the bullet and going through the AD (Tourneau). I guess if I can negotiate down 10% that will off set the taxes. Hopefully they'd still offer the financing.

Been learning a ton on here. Even starting to question if I really want the sub or if a SD is more my style.

Save the $1,000+ and buy from a trusted seller. Avoid tourneu and financing. IMO

My $0.02, try on a SD you may or may not like it, but at least you'll never have to wonder if it was the "right one" that you never even tried on.

Buy outright. You could do a thousand better from a trusted seller or possibly even negotiate a better deal at another AD.

I've had more than one AD offer a discount, there are threads on this topic:

EG it is not very difficult for them to give you "MSRP out the door" (ie. no tax.) Just give them a hard number and see what they say. If they refuse to give you any discount, try another AD.

But you will still save thousands by going with a Trusted Seller here (eg. DavidSW) and still get the full warranty. Try on the watch at the AD, then come home and buy from a TS here on TRF

i'd take the time to pay. I consider a free loan a discount.
