I'm contemplating to flip my Sub-C for a Milgauss. I am fascinated by the blue dial Milgauss but concerned that the blue will be too frivolous, too dazzling, too colorful after a while. The black Milgauss on the other hand presents a very clear, calm and balanced dial.

So has anyone regretted buying the mesmerizingly beautiful blue Milgauss? Did you get bored by the blue? Or is it as beautiful as ever?

I like the dial of the blue Milgauss very much. I think it is more alive then the black one. Looks more sporty. My only problem with my milgauss is the polished bezel. If you are ok with polished bezel and PCL s I say go for it. Its a great watch.

I think it's a fantastic watch. But I don't think I would trade a sub for one.

Now I do think it would make a great companion piece for the sub...

I love mine, but my 16610 sub is my first watch and the GV Z-blue is my dressier watch - blue dial is stunning and always looking different.

The green sapphire crystal can make the dial look a bit dull at certain angles. At other angles, it looks fantastic. I originally had the black dial with clear sapphire, flipped for the z blue, and now I'm back to the black dial with clear sapphire. I'm glad to have reacquired the black dial and it's going to be a keeper.

Good replies so far.
How is the legibility? In the harsh light of the AD the black dial was much much more legibly than the blue. Any issues on the wrist?

I did not have any legibility problems with blue dial under direct sunlight.
On the contrary, the sunburst dial is quiet good from different angles.
Most of the time I check the watch for the beauty of the dial instead of the time.
So I may be biased.

Always wondered how this watch would carry leather strap. This is better then I expected. Can you share couple more photos with leather strap?

The Z Blue was my first Rolex, treated it like a piece of jewelry and was really aware of how shiny/ostentatious it is. Ended up buying an Exp. II and now have a very near perfect daily wear. Strange thing is about a month later, I slipped the Milgauss back on one weekend and WOW, what a nice change up from the Exp. II.

So yeah, for me, the Milgauss is a tough one to own by its lonesome. Beautiful watch though.

Hello Anthon, I don't have the blue Milgauss but I do have the original Milgauss GV. Because of the double casing, the watch feels slightly heavy on the wrist, so I'd suggest you try it on first.

Otherwise, all I can say is that the blue dial is certainly beautiful and worth considering. Should you flip a Sub C for it? Only you can answer that!

Thanks! It's hard to compare weights because the AD doesn't have a Milgauss lying around with the correct bracelet size for me. How does it compare to say, a Submariner? Heavier?
