New 2016 Explorer 1 in Vancouver

A local AD told me a few weeks ago that ADs in Canada would not receive any of the new 2016 pieces before the fall. Still, when I had a meeting across the street from another AD on Monday I couldn't help but poke my head in to see if they had a new Explorer in-store.

After a few patient minutes explaining that:
a) yes, I'm sure I'm thinking of the Explorer 1, not 2
b) yes, I'm sure I'm thinking of the Explorer 1, not the new Air King,
c) no, the Explorer 1 in your display case is not the updated model...
the salesperson decided to check in the back

Lo and behold, he returned with a casket containing a factory-fresh Explorer that had been delivered a couple of days before

Another watch purchase was not in my immediate financial plan so I left without this icon, but I have to agree with those who've said that the small updates to this reference have yielded near-perfection.

Please excuse the poor photos (not sure how to fix orientation), as well as the fact that I didn't think to get any shots of the two 214270 versions side-by-side

New 2016 Explorer 1 in Vancouver

Nice! If only I could have one of these for the lume at night, and the old model for the gold 3,6,9 in the day :/

Very nice. I find the old/current model underwhelming but I definitely see the attraction with this one!

You need to fire your Financial Planner if impulse Rolex buys are not included in your financial plan, as far as I'm concerned that is totally unacceptable.

I wonder how many ADs have received shipment of the new Explorer and aren't aware of the updates or changes. Your experience probably isn't that isolated. The changes are subtle but noticeable to all of us.

A watch is used most of the time during day time. This is when the WG 369 Explorer stands out. It's more elegant looking than the newer version.

But at night, the newer version looks better because of the lumed 369. But how long do you wear it at night? Also, you have to have the lume fully charged to appreciate it a night and once charged the lume does not last that long.

Just my opinion ...

that's always frustrating when you have to explain that stuff to the sales person...
