LOL. True.

To be blunt there is likely 1 of 2 things happening here. Either your lying or you spend a lot of money on watches at authorized dealers and have priority. This is not the case for the majority of people.

So those on waiting lists
DO NOT pay a premium to get one faster....I do believe premiums will drop fast as they are coming to the market pretty quick in pretty large numbers

In order to insult someone succinctly, spelling is crucial. "You're full of shit," would have worked better. While I agree the OP claims could engender skepticism, the message that the 500s are being delivered faster than some would have anticipated is not lost. Given Padi's continual trumpeting that they didn't come close to reinventing the 520 with the push down ceramic bezel, everything OP states stands to reason. Now please post pics!

It's really not that inconceivable that the OP could have got himself top of/high up multiple lists with a little bit of quick telephoning following Basel.

Maybe Rolex is upping production of this watch to better keep up with demand and curtail the grey market profits being made from the shortage of supply. As was said before it is not like this is a new watch. They only made cosmetic changes and could make those parts faster than making some new movement.

I have been told that here in Bangkok I can get one quite easily but the AD's are charging huge premiums and I'm not willing to do that. I'll wait a couple of years. I bought a DJII Blue stick dial with smooth bezel to tide me over until then.

Maybe that's it......could never really understand why Rolex would limit the flow of this watch in the first instance if it's going to lead to a situation as appears to be the case, whereby these are being sold as new by other sources at very high profit to the dissatisfaction of many potential customers who would happily pay retail price. Can't see how that could sit well with Rolex!

Anyway good luck to the OP.....hopefully this is a sign that supply is on the increase and the hype around this watch may just begin to did down. Can never really understand why people get so worked up about it anyway....its just a watch.

funny this post come up.. i just got back from Aus from a week home, whilst there i bought a second hand Daytona 116520 for a good price but thought id pop into the local AD. He looked at me like i was licking windows when i asked him about a Daytona-C and told me to get in line and wait my turn(well not in those words lol) now im back in KL and one of the local grey dealers has a black and a white in stock...brand new! What the!??

this annoys the hell out of me when i cannot go into a AD and purchase THEIR product but i can go to "Mr. Chow's backdoor watches" and get a brand spanking new one with full warranty(stamped dealer card included)

*** no discrespect to any Mr Chow's out there intended lol!***

Perhaps the biggest virtue for watch hobbyists is a lot of patience. With patience you will get what you want, and the pleasure will be all the greater because you waited.

Well said.

I always proofread. If I dare to (intentionally) insult someone I proofread several times to avoid looking like an idiot.

I'm still interested to know where the OP is located. "Europe" is kind of non-specific.

I don't doubt his/her sincerity, although 1000+ posts on an Internet forum is really no proof of anything other than having a lot of free time.

Agree with this 100%. We've seen quite a few on the boards and we are only now coming to the point I may have hoped to see them start.

Though getting the new Sea Dweller in April/May when it was released always kept a bit of hope of earlier release on the Daytona.

I think geographic location has everything to do with this vs relationship with AD etc.....some locations are easier than others....in the US IMO it's relatively easy compared to the likes of Asia and parts of Europe simply due to overwhelming demand and not enough ADs. One thing I am sure of is that it's by no means a common watch at all but far from impossible to get MSRP. I'm just happy Rolex rolled them out so quickly after Basel....the supply IMO will follow the 116520 model so you'll never see an excess of them on the market for years to come.
