16570 looks small?

Hi everyone, just recently acquired this explorer II. I was hoping I could get some opinions on the size, specifically casually as shown in the pic. My wife commented it looks a bit small, and I'm thinking that maybe I should've gone with the 42 mm version, even though I like the dial of the 16570 a bit more, at least from photos. My wrist is around 7 inches, but fairly flat.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

IMHO, the watch looks just right on you.

FWIW, I also have a 7-in wrist and have worn watches up to 48mm. So I found my 40mm Sub "small" at first but eventually got used to the size.

My wrist is about the same size (although I'm a bit taller and lankier,) and 40mm is about the largest I like to go. I think it looks great.

It looks good actually. A 36mm would probably look too small on your wrist.

The 42 would look a lot better. It's also a greatly improved watch over the 16570.

Looks good to me! Really depends on how it feels on your wrist...

Looks good.

The 42mm has cartoony hands.

You made the right choice.

Should have tried both on... I did and decided on the 216570 in black but also added the 16570 in polar later since I liked the white dial. I have a 6.6-6.7" wrist for reference. If just one I'd do the black 216570 all over again since it's a more versatile and a great modern reference with the improvements.

Thanks for all the replies, I really appreciate it. Luckily I washed my hands prior to taking the photo haha.

You all really confirmed how I feel. I think at 40 mm and the design of the 16570 makes it really versatile; great for my daily slacks and button up as well as my usual summer attire of a polo and shorts. I think the comment my wife made has more to do with the t-shirt, which is a bit rare these days, and likely in this singular situation the 42 mm might be more appropriate.

Although it is a bit smaller than what I'm used to, a chunky 43 mm Breitling avenger II, it definitely has that classic feel that I love. Like previously mentioned by others, it does take a bit getting used to.

Thanks.

I know, I agree with the hands. I really need to see it in person though.

Just make sure she's talking about the watch

All kidding aside, I think it looks terrific. I have 8 inch wrists and I wore the 40mm GMT and Sub for years.

Thanks everyone again, I've replied sooner, but my post take a while for approval. I'm guessing due to my low post count.

I strongly disagree with this. The 16570 looks great on you. 40mm is as large as I prefer to go for a sport watch.

The watch looks fine. I have 6.5 inch wrist but I use explorer 2 216570 42mm. Initially I felt it was slightly bigger for my wrist but slowly got used to it. It is all in mind too. Now when I tried 36mm watch I felt it was too small for my wrist! It shows how we get used to it.
Congrats and enjoy this beauty.

Haha yep. We're partial to Amagansett but our usual spot was booked. They remodeled the rooms at gurneys at some point in the past ten years and it's surprisingly pretty nice now. Last time we came the rooms were really musty and quite old.
