Iconic farewell
The Tragically Hip played the Air Canada Centre last night to a sold out show. Lucky enough to snag a box suite with 12 family and friends to hear this iconic band perform one last time.
Gord Downie lead singer and band frontman, was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer this past spring. This is the last tour for a one of the greatest Canadian Bands. Epic show. I can't image the thoughts that go through a man's mind knowing it's his last tour.IMG_0457.JPGIMG_0458.JPGIMG_0459.JPGIMG_0460.JPGIMG_0461.JPGIMG_0462.JPG Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I guess they're mostly only known in Canada. Sadly Gord Dowine was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and this will be there last tour. |

I've heard of them but don't know any of their songs (I don't think so anyway).
I am a fan of another Canadian band however- Rush. I believe they have retired now as well... |

I had the pleasure of actually meeting Rush several years ago It was in the Admirals club of an airport, I can't remember if it was DFW or ORD, but I DO remember they were great guys; friendly, nice, it was awsome speaking with them for a few minutes.

That's awesome you could attend. I have loved the Hip since I first saw them in 1989. I will be watching their final concert on TV on the 20th.
It's always surprised me that they're not so well known outside Canada considering the quality of their music, and rich lyrics. However their lyrics often have a Canadian focus, which might be an explanation. I don't mind - they're a true Canadian rock band, and our treasure. It's very sad about Gord, he is an amazing artist. Glad he was able to do this tour before things get too bad. |

For those of you on the forum at all interested, you tube a few of their songs by popularity and see if you like them as much as we do Yes an amazing band, and very sad for Gord. I too will be watching on the 20th, the very last Hip concert ever. |

I have a lot of respect for the fact that could have done some things to become much more popular, but didn't sell out, and stuck to their roots. |
