TUMI -- decline in quality ?

I was comparing a Tumi bag purchased in spring 2015 to one I bought this week for about the same price.

Both are good bags, but it seems the old bag may be nicer. I snapped some photos with my phone

They are made in several different countries Are both of these from the same manufacturing location?

Totally agree with you Steve. They will improve now that they are owned by Samsonite.

From the pics, it looks like they're using more generic finishes such as buttons to cut costs and increase margin and bolster shares for the sale. From an owner perspective, their quality has gone down hill over the last 20 years and I have no reason to believe, nor is there any evidence to support, that quality will improve under Samsonite.

With the acquisiton of Tumi, Samsonite just bought itself into the luxury market and the customer base that comes with it. That's all.
