Icon6 Made a GMT descision, (not bad only took 4 months!

Hey guys and gals! I have eventually, (thanks to some great photos on here!!) made a descision.

Its time to try and flip the GMT IIc back to the GMT II, (poss 'coke' but most likley BB)

I have had the newer IIc for about 4 months now, and it has been a good watch. It looks very hard done too now though and carries many batttle scars, much more than its predesessor. I am very taken with the large crown and new style clasp but......... The wonderful restraining classic looks of the GMT II have won over and its off back to the AD to see if he can get a GMT II in for me.

I do have a question though. My GMT IIc as mentioned is fairly scratched, and not in the greatist of condition, even though it is only 4 months old. Can i still expect a fair swap at the AD or will i be expected to put money too it?.....again??? Thanks for the advice folks!! Post away!

Should get a fair swap on it! I know how you feel.... I got my IIc in March this year...then after seeing a ton of the 16710 photos here on TRF....picked up a pre loved GMT II from Tempo.......now the IIc sleeps in the dark ( safe ) while the II enjoys all the sun and sea 24/7.....never even take it off!.....that is until Bluesy gets back from RSC!

I think is hard for you to decide what Rolex do you wanna wear day by day.
Me, is easy... Whatever I wear people around me not give an attention, because all Subs, they all look the same...

With an expert polishing job, your GMTIIC should look as good as new, well almost..... I think you should get a fairly good price for it.
I haven't seen your watch lately, so my reply may not be terribly accurate
Good Luck Truckie!!!!

The scratches on the bracelet will not and should not make any difference. It doesn't take much to polish it up and make it look new again. All AD's and pre owned watch dealer have a polishing machine. Make sure you get a good value for the trade.

good luck.

Have you thought about getting the entire bracelet matte finished? It won't look so beat up then.

Man, what do you guys do to your watches?!

Ha!
yeah, i have seen some good photos of matted bracelets, they do look good. I was surprised really. There was a trf member who posted some a while back.

The change from IIc to II, again, is not really due to the scratches, more to do with the classic looks of the II, and the 'over bearingness' of the IIc. and i think the Maxi bezel is not really as refined. I have also noticed, the II, looks more 'gentlemanly' than the 'rogueish' IIc

I drive truck and work on farms. My watch is a tool, and so i wear it all the time. I have been the same with all the fine things i have owned. I buy a thing to use, and so they are used constantly. I get my pleaseure from a thing all the time, not just on special occasions. It has seen some battles, and i can tell you stories that would make you cringe maybee!! Its all good!!!

Hi Steve

I'vebeen looking for a GMTIIc... let me make you an offer you can't refuse!

Are you trading it in at the AD? How much is the AD offering you?

PM me if you like...

Depending on how much it's worth in a trade, it may be better to sell and then use the funds to purchase a GMT II. Just a thought. Good luck.

The things you describe as negatives are the same issues I would have as well. Although I think the GMT IIc is a great watch for many the 16710 is a much better fit for me as well.
Good luck,
dP
