SD4000 116600 with glossy dial

Just here in Mayor's Jewellers and just saw a SD4000 with a glossy dial just not as black as the Subdate or GMT

That is how the watch looks. It's matte dial but under some lights, it can look glossy.

Lots of rumors about the new series coming with a glossy dial.

It seems something has changed indeed.

"Not as black" probably means not glossy.

Not saying I don't believe it, but I have a 116600 and the satin dial rarely shows its satin side. It usually just looks black.

Pics?

Are you sure it wasn't satin? If it wasn't the color of the sub then you just might be confusing the satin with the glossy dial. In some jewelry store lighting it is not as easy to see but shine a light into the face of the dials and the answer will become clear.

I really don't understand why some folk are getting their Alan's in a twist over whether the SD4K has a matte or glossy dial. Is it really THAT big a deal? It's not as if it's going from 'standard' to sunburst or changing colour where the difference would be quite significant.

No offence meant here; it obviously matters to some people. I just don't get it, that's all

I've already done that in the store where I saw one a little while ago.

Multiple watch angles, moved to different parts of the store to get different lighting, tried shining my smart phone flashlight onto the dial from different angles and at different distances.
At the end of the process, I could not absolutely say categorically that the dial was Matte like the first one I ever saw when they originally came out which was obviously a Matte finish and not to my liking.
The one I recently handled was quite appealing and virtually looked for all intents and purposes Gloss, but not quite as Gloss as a Sub.
So for now I'm calling it as a near Gloss/Satin

I would stop going by distant memories... It's always been satin

My satin dial does look a bit glossy under certain lighting conditions. Some people might mistake it for a glossy dial I suppose.
