My DJII is blood resistant to 100m.
That's enough for me, but a surgeon should probably get a submariner... |

I used to complain about the wait at appointments too, but once you've seen what it's like on the other side, you'd understand why. |

Easy to read time, easy to read seconds in a dark room and a date. Date change exactly at midnight(I work nights). That is all I want at work. #1 is ease use of the second hand. |

Another feature would be the ability to have it sterilized. Maybe not in an oven, but with disinfectants. But if you could pop your Rolex in the sterilizing oven that would be cool.

Why hasn't Rolex created a model for doctors?

In the past the doctors watch was typically a chronograph with a pulsometer around the inner ring to easily measure a patient's pulse. The Daytona would be the closest example today from Rolex. If I was looking to buy a modern "doctors chronograph" the best watch I can recommend is the Lange 1815 boutique edition (only available at Lange boutiques).

Longings has another pulsometer version. But, doctors can easily afford a Patek Philippe version. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I usually wear a gold sub in the office and during minor surgery.. Blood washes off it easily. I'd never buy a watch with a pulse counter. Counting a pulse is as easy as seeing how many beats in 10 seconds and multiplying by 6. Anyways, in today's world everything is electronic... we rarely measure vitals the old fashioned way.

I'd say the Milgauss is the closest professional model for those working near magnetic fields such as from an MRI. Otherwise, a gold day-date of your choice works at the golf or yacht club....ha! Cheers!

If your in a medical field as you know it, you got to have always a watch with a date on it or preferably a Day/date.

Why would Rolex do that?
I do have one that I believe was made for lawyers...I paid a lot of money for it, but it doesn't tell me the correct time... |

I am a dermatologist in private practice for 10+ years. My daily work watch is a Polar White Dial Rolex Explorer II. Love the easy legibility, and under the radar look of this elegant Rolex SS watch. My other watch which I alternate with the EXP II is the Kermit Submariner LV 50th. The date function is crucial for medical charting. White Dial watch for Monday, Wednesday, Friday and the Black Dial watch for Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I see patients from all socio-economic back grounds. I do not drive a fancy car (BMW 7 series) or extravagant watch to work. Leaving the Porsche 911 and Gold Daytona for fun weekends only. One thing I noticed is that fancy cars and extravagant watches loses their charm quickly if used daily. Leaving the special tools for that special occasion makes the experience much more enjoyable. One of my plastic surgeon colleague daily drives a Ferrari 488 and blinged out AP ROO to work. Different strokes for different folks.
The reason why doctors are late for appointment is due to office managers overbooking to make up for patient not showing up for appointments. Each hour slot gets 4 patient scheduled 9:00 9:15 9:30 9:45. The no show cancel rate at most medical clinics is 18%. Bottom line is that Medical practice is a profit driven business. Imagine a restaurant with lots of canceled reservation drastically reducing its profit margin. Having a line at a waiting room boost the image of a successful busy practice. Don't make the customers wait for too long. It's always a supply and demand game in the real world. |

With their craftsmanship of stainless steel and ceramic they already make watches for orthopaedic surgeons. Done.

According to this article, the Rolex tru-beat was meant for doctors trying to time pulse beats more accurately.

Dr. Tom beat me to it, I would've said "they do, it's a Platona!"
But Larry is also right the Rolex Prince is there for the daring doc who wants something rarely seen on the wrist and doesn't want to drop 60+K on it.
