Like Deja Vu right? I went thru just this with my sister yesterday. She broke her ankle last year on a huge pothole in the road, we sued the council and they are paying damages, and then yesterday she broke it again just mis-stepping on a pavement. Unbelievable is all we could all say and she too is pretty depressed. Trying to look on the bright side, she went to a wedding in Italy last w/e so at least it didn't happen before and ruin that. Crazy world sometimes. Hope you and she feel better soon.

And actually feeling no pain whatsoever from the accident. Still tender from the original surgery, but the F150 is literally a life saver. And I'm eternally grateful.

My insurance company is all over it, my auto body shop is ready to receive and I've got all my ducks lined up nicely.

My lead sales guy who drives a company owned raptor asked if he could take the f150 if it's not totaled (and I'm thinking Danny is right and it won't be). So I'm on my way, in an uber, to pick up a new truck that will ultimately be funded by the raptor I sell.

My sales guy is happy, I'm healthy and happy and just again realizing how friggin lucky I am in life as a whole.

I always say it's all about perspective. And I could very well be lamenting about my bad stroke of luck. But nah, I'm thinking I'm just about the luckiest guy in the world.
I really like your attitude Seth.
I tend to be a pessimistic, and I appreciate you sharing some of your life events.
Hopefully, I am learning and changing.

Sorry to hear that. I know this is of little comfort to say but, at least you are still here. Some people in car accidents don't make it out alive. Congratulations on still being here.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, and new truck. I lost count of how many close calls I've had on the Garden State Pkwy, but fortunately no incidents.

good to hear.
I actually bought the book "don't sweat the small stuff" a couple of months ago so I can try to improve and become more optimistic, glass half full kind of person.
And, if remember correctly, i bought it after I saw a post from Seth mentioning the book.

you know...i actually feel like he might have been on the phone.

i asked him if he called the police and he said he could not turn his phone on. yet it was in his hand. i have a sneaky suspicion that he turned it off, and for a reason. but water under the bridge at this point, i suppose.

ha. i probably did post that. it is one of my favorite books.

life is just so short. and the good times are always measured with the bad times. might as well enjoy as much of the times as possible. no time to waste.

and going to start a new thread pretty soon i suppose. but i just could not bring myself to buy another F150 today.

i am grateful for it. and i love the truck. but for some reason, i just could not do it. and i have no interest in another brands pick up at the moment.

so for now....i am carless (the 350 is just a weekender, not realistic for a DD for me and certainly not really able to drive it right now anyway). and i have no idea what i want to get. in fact, i really don't want to get anything. which is likely a first for me.

I had a similar accident 10 years ago. I was driving my brand new Mazda Miata on the way to the hospital to visit my mother.

A huge SUV rammed me into another car and they had to pry me out of the car. The driver was a young blonde female who was on her cell phone and did not notice my stopped Miata.

BAM. And I'm still having medical issues.

Oh, she was uninsured. In Virginia, you legally do not need to have insurance. Shocking, but true.

Best combo is an SUV and sports car.

Have a feeling it won't be long until you have something coming.

Have you looked at the F250 SD's? Really solid trucks. I have a turbo diesel that I have chipped to 500 hp that is the cats whiskers.

Looking forward to the truck replacement thread.

I seriously think I just want my truck back. Me not wanting something different, pushing for more? What is my world coming to? Besides my wife, it's always about what's next.

I wanted it totaled before. But I actually just want it back.

Who am I? And what have I done with myself?

You seem to be settling down after the shock of the accident. You have a great truck, and you seem to love it. If the body shop gets her right, I think you'll be happy keeping her.

Otherwise, in your neighborhood, you might want one of these (we have them at work, they're built like a tank)....

Just a quick update. The owner of the body shop thinks he can fix it. His top guy thinks it'll be totaled.

The entire frame would need to be replaced, plus the bed, and who knows what they will find when they start taking it apart. The front bumper is also a little messed up from hitting the median.

This pic still does it no justice. In person it looks pretty bad.

Personally, I'm fine with whichever way they decide to go. But it's a minimum of two months. I've done something to replace it, but if the total it or not, it'll work out.

And for the most part, I feel just fine. Still hurting from surgery, and I'm sore as heck from the hit, but all in all, good to go.

After seeing the frame, it's done. (Unless the bed is just crooked).
