It was a cultural thing with him. He associated RADO with the dowry tradition in India. He had strong feelings about it and that carried over to the watch which was apparently in vogue as a dowry gift. He supposedly disliked the design and aesthetics as well but I'm guessing that was secondary as he never saw a RADO he liked.

To be remembered so fondly is an aspiration well beyond material things.

I never interacted with JJ and do regret that.

Well put Jim.

There are a couple sayings in my favorite movies that state something like this. I won't go in to details but "what we do in life, echoes in eternity" and "In a thousand years, no one will remember your name." The point is he had such a positive impact on so many people, even now, years after he has departed this Earth, those of us that knew him still speak so very fondly, and those that didn't regret not being able to. To me, that is a very powerful statement as to just what kind of human being JJ was, and I look forward to meeting him in person someday, when I make that journey.

Just read through that 2010 thread, I am crying laughing here! He took it very well in fairness to him! Sounds like he was a great guy.

That old thread Jocke linked to is a true classic. It's even more funny when you can understand/read what Jocke and Leo is writing to each other in Swedish.

JJ was definitely a genuine soul. Really miss having him around here. He always brought a big smile to everyone's face. A bright star in my book.

Cheers,
Joe
