Upcoming Grand Cayman Trip
Hey guys, debating buying a watch on vacation. What sort of discount should I expect from retailers? I have a feeling I'm better off buying from trusted sellers on here.

I was there in July, there was little to no discounting and the duty exemption from there is $800

Visited Karen at Kirk Freeport Rolex. Got a small discount on Sub, more on a datejust for the wife. Got some Rolex goodies thrown in, no tax and made it back through customs without paying any duty. End of the day it was about the same price as a gray market but we got the AD experience. If you do go to Rolex, track down Karen.

My 2 cents:
Because of one of our businesses, I have travelled extensively throughout the caribbean, and stopped at every AD on the road (St Thomas, Roatan, Aruba, Bahamas, Curacao, St Marteen, Barbados....) as well as duty free places in mainland (Panama, Mexico). I have seen all sorts of prices and discounts, some look very attractive and some do not. My advice: do your homework. Know your prices. Know what is a good and a great deal; and if you find one, go ahead. There has been many talks about time and day to visit (pre cruise, during cruise, post cruise); there is no pattern. Discounts will happen based on that particular AD's economy and market; that is why some TRfers find regular prices and some great deals at the same locale. It has nothing to do with duty free, a cruise or caribbean. So my humble opinion, once again; study. Do your homework and enjoy!!!!! |

Thank you all for the great info, I will feel out the dealers. Not willing to pay more than I can get from dealers on here. Makes no sense!
