Visit to Peterborough -tried on new EXP
On a visit to Peterborough I visited Fraser Hart to see if they had anything interesting.
The only thing of interest was the new explorer which I took the opportunity to try on. They had no decent SS stock apart from the usual suspects (milgauss and EXP2) As you would expect they wouldn't budge on price or even offer any zero percent. I was impressed with the simplicity of the explorer but ultimately under whelmed. They did almost gasp at my mint BLNR saying they were very much in demand. Funnily enough as I sat there trying on the explorer a man came in asking for a BLNR and he was politely told "no chance" and they don't even take lists. It was nice to try it on but ultimately it's not for me. |

I prefer the previous smaller version. They've made it too big and messed-up the proportions.

Thanks so much guys.
I do like it but £4300 with no discount it was just too much for me. If they'd been up for a bit of negotiation I'd have considered it :) |

Bought my sub from there, no budging on price. But were very helpful when i had a bezel issue that needed sorting.

Got to say the larger hands on your current Explorer makes it look great too. Pity Rolex won't do this change officially for I'm sure alot of folks would be very happy with it.

Chaps
One lesson I have learned over the years is never to decide on what looks good based on a pic on a computer screen. I have a "short handed" 39mm Explorer and will reserve judgement on how it compares to a new style one when I see it in the flesh. I absolutely slated the new AirKing when I first saw pics of its release on this forum but had to change my mind when I saw it in a dealers window. It actually looked quite charming. So the best advice is to reserve judgement until you see the thing actually put in front of you. Regards Mick |

Upgraded my 114270 to the 2016 214270 last week and no regrets.
I miss the 36mm as I got so used to it, but am currently alternating between the new Explorer and a new Pelagos and am as happy as a pig in S***. |

SC11(Sam), I know I am in danger of going down the PatrickJ path and splitting hairs here but on revisiting your comparison shot, I think the Explorer would achieve perfection if it had the Seadweller's handset which to my eye is one of the best shaped and proportioned. Don't get me wrong it's not going to put me off acquiring one but just seems the new Explorer's minute hand is ever so slightly long and a little too pointed(I know there's air escaping Haha). Just some slightly hungover Sunday morning thoughts.
