Can I ask how much it cost for that work? What are your thoughts on replacing the bezel and no longer having the original? This is one of the reasons why I don't like to buy watches with scratches on the bezel. Does it make it look too new in your opinion with a replacement bezel?

All the work with insured overnight shipping to and from was around $1300. If i could have saved the bezel insert i would of but it was pretty much beyond repair. Being that ABC was able to restore the original superdome crystal and reuse dial/hands it does not bother me that much. I still always have the option to hunt down a different insert if i want to. I plan to wear the watch daily, and like the vintage/ modern look it has with the newer insert with the original dial/hands and leather strap.

How much does ABC charge for polishing the watch case?

I was quoted $95 for polishing if done as part of a service. Otherwise, polishing is $150.

Great meters first Sub, and a lovely restoration by Alex. You'll be able to wear this daily (if you want) for the next 7-10 years.
Did you retain the original insert, just to have on hand?

You had just the right amount of work done on that one.

Nice.

I would prefer to keep the original bezel... looks nicer IMO.

Great job!

Great job!

i'm usually a stickler for keeping our vintage stuff as-found but i agree with the Op and the service provider in replacing the insert as the old one was butt-ugly.

it would have been much too much of a distraction to see that nasty insert on the wrist for any length of time. i think the restoration level was just right

Don't get this confused with a case refresh which could cost you $350+.

Great work from ABC again, only problem I see is not enough photos and the watches story.

Enjoy

Seems like the split between ABC and LAWW has done nothing to hurt either operation in terms of the quality of the work. Lots of good reviews about both places. Looks great.
