Speedy Pro or IWC Pilot Chrono?
The MSRP is similar but yes, I know, the street price of these watches is a little different. But both are roughly similar in size and both are chronos. Both are steel and both are available with leather straps.
Which would you choose, and why? |

Both nice watches. I thought the IWC was a bit more expensive (?)
I'm an IWC fan so I'd go that way. Just a more striking watch to my eyes.

I generally like the look of IWC designs.
That said I have lusted after a Speedmaster Pro for years, though I would never buy an Omega new.

The IWC is an overall larger more 'masculine' watch if you will. Thicker and 43mm. Its a bold look with a classic and very copied "Pilot" look. I personally love it.
The Speedy is an icon as well... overall slimmer and more of a daily wearer, more comfortable. |

I recently flipped a IWC Le Petit Prince Pilot Chrono. They both fit differently on the wrist...should try both on. The IWC is 43mm, btw.
It's super attractive...but... The IWC movment is a modified Valjoux Calibre 7750 (reliable, very). The thing I did not like about it was the slow update to the date (you can start to see the day/date wheel moving at around 1030pm, and slowly flip by midnight)...not a quick flip like the Rolex. Another annoyance is the minimalist lume (only on the hands and the major hour markers). Because of these, I would go for the Speedy...but I would pick a pre-moon calibre 861 or a 321 as it will retain value better. Or if you like the more modern versions...pre-owned because of the hit on depreciation. |

IWC, specifically 3777. The Speedy is a great watch and is certainly iconic, but it didn't sing to me when I was an owner.

I've owned a 3717 on bracelet. That so, I'd try the speedy.

I've had both. IWC by a long shot for me. That is, unless it's a vintage Speedy.

I own both.
They are great watches. The iWC is very thick and can be a little uncomfortable at times. However it's a very attractive watch and I always receive compliments on it. The speedy is a classic , very comfortable and a joy to look at if you get the sapphire sandwich version which I have. It mostly goes unnoticed. If I had to pick only one I would pick the speedy. |

I'd go with the Speedy.
I can't stand what IWC did to their pilot's watches after the Mk XIV.

IWC for me. I owned the Speedy and enjoyed it, but the IWC is certainly less ubiquitous.

Speedy with hesalite has a vintage look, very distinct. The sapphire version has the "cloud ring" and im not a fan of it. Iwc definitely looks nicer, while speedy flies under the radar. Lastly one is manual wind and the other is auto. Whichever you prefer

I think the Speedy photographs extremely well and was quite excited about getting one. However, once I got it on my wrist, I liked it quite a bit less. Sometimes it works like that.

Here are both on the same wrist, not sure if you have made a decision since this thread is from October. Any news?
