A NATO with a good clasp and good spring bars is as secure as any other bracelet or combination, maybe more secure as you could have a spring bar failure and still not lose the watch. When you get it back it would look great on a Eulit Palma gray nato!!! Or will a black NATO off of a Tudor fit on a Daytona??
Agree: Service will be at least 1K or a bit more depending on water and shrapnel damage.

Disagree: A Daytona does NOT belong on a NATO. The Oyster bracelet is a thing of beauty and simple perfection. Why try to reinvent the wheel?

Keep positive. Think of it as a nice spa day for your watch. And you'll have the thrill of opening the box again. Win Win.

Agree: it looks great on a bracelet.

I never said it belonged on a NATO. Just that if you are buy a good one so it is more secure.

It's not officially a nato, but the fabric strap that comes with your Tudor Advisor is my favourite of all.

That is a great fabric strap. Great weave. The only one I like the look of as well is the BB bronze.

Ouch. Do you have a shot of the clasp? Thought those were solid rings. Did the stitching give?

The stitching didn't give. Whatever I caught the watch on put pressure on just the right way to pull the tang to the wrong side of the buckle. Hard to explain, but have a look at the picture. The tang should be pointed up instead of down.

Been wearing the watch on the strap for quite a while and never had any problems. Would never have thought that this would have happened. When I told my wife about it, she just rolled her eyes and called me a bull in a china shop for the millionth time in our marriage. I'm kind of like Tim Allen's character from "Home Improvement" in that I'm good at finding new and creative ways in breaking things.

People like to talk about how a nato will save your watch if a springbar fails, yet every broken or dislodged springbar shown on the forums seems to have been caused by a nato. The fact that the watch is still dangling on the remaining springbar is somehow seen as the nato's selling point.

I've never seen a photo here of a springbar failure while the watch was on its steel bracelet.

Right. I know the oyster bracelet is bulletproof and this wouldn't have happened if it had been on the bracelet. I just never thought that something like this would happen.

The reason I called the strap cheap in my first post is because when I really looked at it in afterward, I could see when the problem. The buckle should have been designed better, though it took a good bit of force to cause it to fail.

When I get the watch back from RSC, it'll go back on the bracelet. If I do ever put it on a strap again, it won't be a Maratac and it'll definitely have a better buckle.

Regardless of the reason this occurred and the potential cost, the upside is that the watch should be beautiful when it is returned!

the "bracelet" police are well and truly active in this thread! ... the world of watch wearing would be a boring place if we all looked the same.
good for you for sharing this even though you knew deep down the criticism would be thrown at you. respect for wearing and enjoying your watch in daily activity instead of keeping it in a vacuum sealed glass case like so many do these days.

The funny thing - what kind of strap does a milsub wear? Not the perfect, unbreakable, amazing, oyster - a crappy NATO.

The OP should just buy NATOs with good hardware. They exist.

I bought one of these AlphaShark straps from Blue Shark just out of curiosity.

https://www.blusharkstraps.com/collections/alphashark

They're 10 times better than your average Nato, and I see they have more colours now. There's no way you'd have hardware failure on one of these.

I never ever understood why people put an ugly $20 strap on
$10k watch, making it look like poop.
Just because fictional character James Bond did it... It doesnt make it cool, attractive, and safe
I hope your Daytona is not damaged beyond crystal but be prepared to do a full overhaul which costs more than $1000
