My Rolex revelation from today onwards. Thanks TRF
I started my Rolex journey a quarter of a century ago, simply buying pieces by their aesthetic appeal and my budget.
Watch after watch like a chicken without a head. Since TRF, I saw the brand and its creations in a different light. The more I research the more I am intrigued, a borderline obsession. As much as the new pieces kept rolling off the line I want them all, as a regular Joe this growing list seems more like a fantasy. I am taught old school, collecting than flipping is my game. TRF gave me direction, thanks to everybody ceaselessly sharing your knowledge and your expertise. I realized that to any true hobbyist, there should be a core element to ones collection, any connoisseur should have their own private stock. Of all my current 8 Rolex watches, I have none of them. From now on I will actively seek my core group of 3, I will be taking my time to document this project/journey into acquiring them. Here's my goal in their order: 116520 white 16710 Pepsi - Coke - LN 78790A 62510H 16610 LV My personal Rolex holy trio to be, there will be others to add as the road is long and life is short. What's your core trio? Let's share. Thanks for reading

I'm with ya with 2 of them. I already have the 16710 with all 3 inserts and both bracelets. Although I wear it as a pepsi with the oyster most of the time.
Next up for me is the 16610 LV. But it may take a while until I can get that. Too many other great pieces from other brands have been catching my eye. I'd also like a 1655, or 16550......someday. |

I achieved what I thought was my perfect trio a few months ago and I quickly found out that I, unlike you, am a flipper.
EXP 1 , BLNR, HULK OP RHODIUM, BLNR, HULK I had the opportunity to offload my collection and start fresh. My trifecta in the near future will likely include: 114060, 116610LV (Which I never should have gotten rid of in the first place) and a Birth Year Dive or a GMT of some sort (1988) The last piece, unlike all others, will be purchased over time. I will begin to hunt for and save for on Feb 20, 2017 and I'll be presenting it to myself on my 30th birthday a year later.

My three Rolexes. I rather like the Sub. The others, not so much.

Good luck on your journey. As I got older, I prized quality over quantity. I am now a one watch person.

Over the last 6 months or so, I've started adapting to that very same philosophy.
Three core and a couple to move, flip, enjoy...etc... Three core for me...2 PM Rolex, and 1 SS Rolex. Fortunately, I have my 3 core |

I like your trio. My SS Rolex trio is:
1. SD4000 2. BLNR 3. Ceramic Daytona Now if my AD would hurry up and give me my Daytona then the trio would be complete. |

There can never be enough of Rolexes...definitely not just 3...but having a core consisting of 3 Rolexes of different category is a pretty good idea...that's exactly what I did as previously I was strictly into divers only...
Just Rolexes, here's my trio...I guess pretty much covers (in my opinion) the basics of adventure/travels, diver/water and racing/chrono. Not the best of pic but you get the idea... All the best in your journey...and like the word itself, the journey will take us to different places at different times...my journey for now at this moment...is complete. |
